Is it acceptable to be a good Christian or Muslim and be a swinger?

Morally is it acceptable

There are a broad range of interpretations of religion in both Christianity and Islam.

The orthodox view in both religions would see swinging as sinful. But orthodoxy isn’t the only show in town.

No, you can't because you're fundamentally at odds with some very specific rules within the dogma. You can believe in a higher power but if you truly believed in God as the Bible describes him, you'd be following his rules. You can be spiritual but you aren't strictly a Christian.

Personally I think there must be a conflict in beliefs. But it is down to each individual to reconcile that contradiction and personally, in broad teems at least, I dont think it's for me or anyone else to start calling people hypocrites.

OP I am agnostic so reconciling faith with swinging isn't something I've had to consider.

In all faiths you get those who choose to be selective about which "rules" they actually follow and not just adultery. If people have a faith it's them who have to live with their choices and justify it to theirselves. It has no bearing or impact on me.

What you’re after is someone to raise their hand and say, yep, I’m a Muslim/Christian/Jew or whatever.

Then they’re expected to take ridicule, goading and to justify themselves. All the while, whilst having something that’s intrinsic to their being ripped apart and mocked. It’s a well warn path on these threads.

There are more people on the site with religious beliefs than you’ll imagine. However not many will bother coming onto these threads.

Most religious belief systems oppose promiscuity and adultery so I imagine that strictly it’s in opposition to those beliefs, but I’ve met up with Christian and Muslim men so I think it’s down to the individual

Absolutely... most people with religious beliefs still consider this sort of lifestyle fine ... if done with permission ... IMO

It's going behind people's backs that the sticky wicket is found ... but then that's true of those who are religious, atheist or agnostic ... again IMO

There's the "moral" argument there, which doesn't have to have religious connotations

The mormon Christian sect has eternal polygamy for its believers. Whilst polygamy has been outlawed while alive, after death members could have multiple partners, a process that is still sustained today. Swinging in the afterlife.

Most religion practiced today allows you to make mistakes - or breaking their code - and to get forgiveness. It's not much use, if you have been stoned to death though.

i do believe it was a one sided affair! whilst men could have multiple wives the reverse not the case ( i may be wrong as i tend to through boiling tar on anyone coming preaching religion at my door) lol

We'd imagine that anyone who is very religious in one of the monotheist religions would have internal tensions about being a swinger. The big three (Xtianity, Islam and Judaism) all regard extramarital sex as sinful. Maybe if you were an RC you could confess after each meet, be forgiven, say your "Hail Marys" then do it again next time?

We are Pagans, and Paganism regards all consensual sex as natural and enjoyable. Many of our Gods and Goddesses are quite promiscuous! Extramarital sex, group-sex and nudity are considered quite OK by most Pagans. Some Pagan groups even include sex in their rituals and quite a few involve non-sexual nudity.

In the case of the Koran it is in afraid the exact words of Allah dictated to Mohammed, there is no interpretation unless you proscribe to the I think what God actually meant is... Philosophy.

If it turns out to be true none of us are getting in and neither are the I think what God actually meant is brigade.
