How do you meet new people? Do you tend to rely on sites like this or clubs?

How do you think things have changed over the years?

With apps like tinder and their quick swipe dismiss or approve system are we losing part of the fun? Are things getting too impersonal?

Is that a change from your younger days?

I was talking to a 19 year old about pulling in nightclubs and she basically said it's just not done so much now, most people hook up on tinder. I know there were websites around when I was her age but meeting online kinda had a stigma attached to it.

I would say that I relied on sites like this. In the past I never chatted people up in social situations really (unless it was a night out maybe). My social interactions are based around running and fitness so I would never have wanted to hit on people in those situations.

I'm also awful at reading the signals regarding attraction, fab has ruined my ability to flirt in the normal world!

In all honesty I think I’m too old to ‘pull’ in the real world! If I go out ‘vanilla ‘ it’s with friends who are all in long term relationships and we just chat to each other! If I see any guys my age i’d assume they were in relationships too - and I’d never expect younger guys in the real world to be interested in an old fart like me!

In the unlikely event I decide I want a monogamous relationship I’d use a dating site I guess!

Same here absolutely - though I’ve always been rubbish at it! I’m a very direct (too direct for a woman I think!) person and I struggle to detect if someone is flirting.! I tend to realise five minutes too late when they’ve gone!

When I still went out to the pub/bars or clubbing I'd have no problem pulling if I wanted to, although I didn't usually do so. I'd also occasionally get approached if out for a coffee. Since going grey I never get approached. It's obviously a bit niche

I absolutely loathe online "dating" it's superficial and to be honest my experience on most of the dating apps are that they are just glorified shag sites anyway.

My work means it's hard to meet people.. So it seems to be the way of the world. I want to date but can't be arsed with it either.. It just sucks your soul dry.. Especially if you enjoy sex and the spark and chemistry is important... You can't admit that on the other apps or people just think your an easy lay.

I haven't had any proper dates from here... Who knows maybe one day. I kinda think if it happens it happens and if not that's ok too. I enjoy the forums and chatting on here...and that's the main focus at the moment

I'm not a serial dater but it is emotionally draining because you invest time and energy talking to someone and trying to get to know them.. I don't like to chat for weeks and weeks online because I don't think you can truly know until you meet someone if there is that spark.. So far from the dates I've had only one went to a second date... Location seems to affect me too.. Its like the fab sods law.. Everyone who I do find attractive is miles and miles away. I think like with fab you have to be in the right frame of mind or it just drags you down.. Rejection or just spending time getting to know someone and it not go anywhere. But then you have to balance it with well, he can't have been right and the hope that there's someone waiting for me somewhere I just haven't found him yet... Although I'm a bit contrary as I enjoy my freedom too

If you decide to date some apps are slightly better though so just try them all and find what suits you xx

Yes. I used to go out and end up getting d*unk. Sometimes I'd dance, I still enjoy getting a bit tipsy and dancing.

If Xtasia and Cham's werent so ridiculously, offensively unfairly expensive then i'd probably go 'Clubbing' Quite often, in much the same way I did when I was younger, only with more success and less alcohol. They are big clubs with lots of members both on and off the Forum.

I can't bring myself to pay twice as much as everyone else though, I don't think it's right and don't want to hang around people who think it is.

So I stay at home most nights. Once in a blue moon I may get lucky and meet someone on or off Forum. It's rare, but they're usually pretty special people I do get to meet, so it tends to be worth the wait.

Though times like now.. I feel a bit socially isolated and forgotten about. Outside of the Forum (no need to PM) and my immediate family. Which sucks a bit as like I said on another post. I'm quite Tribal. I think I'm the kind of person who NEEDS a large pack to feel fully alive. An environment where actions and intentions speak louder than looks or possessions.

Dancing is primal. Maybe that's why I liked clubbing. Never seemed to care that I hadn't pulled if I'd had a good night dancing and sweating to drum beats. I could do that anywhere though, with the right beat and the right people.

Well, I have a partner so I don't need to go out on the pull in the traditional sense. I have a very active social life too so that aspect if well covered.

However, "meets" are just through here at the moment. I tried Tinder but it's awkward when you match and then have to explain your circumstances :-

I didn't much pull in my 20s so doubt I would at nearly 40, except for the 'ladz' with a MILF fantasy and I don't want to indulge that.

After several years of severe anxiety and health issues I've only used this place as a way to meet people. The organised socials have been brilliant to get to meet so many in the flesh, but reinforced my change in attitude towards how I use this site.

Conversation on here seems to be way more open than a traditional dating site, and it's important to me that I can be open about my weird points.

Yes it's not as fun as the good old days of meeting people out and about. But none of my friends my age do that anyway anymore. The best part of this is making ace friends with similar interests along the way and I hope that continues.

On here I’m seeking something specific, men significantly older than me, men I wouldn’t come across in my social circle or on a night out as I am 25 & most of my social circle is under 30.

So sites like this come in handy for that!

In my single days I pulled on nights out only. Usually d*unk and thinking it a brilliant idea just because I wanted sex, I’d fuck whoever without thinking of the consequences, or my own safety, whether I fancied them or not.

I wish I had known of fab and clubs at that time so I could have indulged safely, instead I was getting in taxi’s with strangers and going to their homes, miles away from my own. It was stupid and I’m lucky af nothing terrible happened- a part from feeling like a dick the next day.

Thank god I met MrT and calmed the fuck down

My problem was my old job I always worked Thu Fri sat till late. So no one was ever free sun to wed night. So it's was just easy to going online. Plus how do you tell someone your kinky side. Am a submissive cross dresser. So at least online everyone knows what I am and it save a lot of embarrassing conversations.

I had a bit of a shock reintroduction back to dating a few years ago and the change was scary. I can’t get out much so going out wasn’t much of an option. So I went on dating sites, I was lucky in that I soon met mr. But I’d have no idea how to go about meeting people in pubs or social settings now x
