"If so what position does he take in the hierachy? Is he the Godfather or does he hold another position? Does he use a Congsigliere, captains or footsoldiers? Does he pull the strings from the background,or are his strings being pulled? Does the organization try to hold and expand territory? Has the organization ever killed anyone? Does he have associates, partners in crime? Or is he just a nice misunderstood old guy in a white suit and hat?" He doesn’t wear a suit , it is a cassock ![]()

"It’s an ancient organisation that has failed to move quickly enough with modern times. It’s tried to keep its dirty laundry in house as everyone used to and not embraced the openness it should have. The Catholic Church has many critics, and for this reason it’s still being secretive, in my opinion wrongly. However, it’s natural to not want to open yourself up to criticism. Is it an organised criminal network? No. Is it a network that condones child abuse? No, although it undoubtedly has had a problem with it in the past that it’s tried to cover up. I don’t doubt there are individuals still doing it, but it’s not with the connivance of the organisation. It’s still a powerful institution that does do lots of good around the world. " To mask the truth of there abhorrent ancient practices perhaps? That still happen to this day

"The practises of the organization Are as ancent as the organization. And are older then any version of the bible we are told about. Like why is there a white pope (white robes)spreader of love and peace. And a black pope( black robes)under the order of the black pope (superiour general to give him his full name) love and peace is far from the top of the list. But what the fudge do i know" How much do you know about the practices of the organization?

I reckon all powerful organisations have their hit squad and break/ manipulate the law. He can't be seen to get his hands dirty so I imagine theres much he doesnt know or want to. I don't know who's above him well except for God so I'd say he's pretty high up there. Of course they must try to hold and expand territory. They can't afford a dwindling flock. I would like to think he was a good guy and I dont hold him personally responsible for the sins of his predecessors. The church has previously been utterly ruthless and probably still could be. I wouldn't kiss his ring.

"There's been far too much cover up from priests abusing young people and nuns for me to believe this is a sustainable religion. If I was Catholic I'd be embarrassed and renounce my faith. If the leaders won't admit their mistakes, how can you believe?! Corruption and abuse. Appalling! " There can never ever be an excuse for abuse. Unfortunately in life there are good and bad. This would not be allowed in the public sector but it's gone under the radar for far too long. Safeguarding procedures in religious sectors needs to seriously tighten up!

I would not disagree with that. Safeguarding measures for the vulnerable and in general are a must. Lessons should be learnt and those things never repeated. Abuse comes in many forms.

"I was surprised to learn that the Vatican City has the youngest age of consent in the world. I haven’t checked the fact so would not be surprised at being told am wrong" They have changed the law to raise the age of consent during the term of the present pope. What that means I don't know? As little of the info I have read in response to your post is clear. They supposedly had the lowest age of consent in Europe along with Italy for a period of time until Italy raised theirs.

You have to be a priest to be a bishop, a bishop to be a cardinal, a cardinal to be a pope, it probably takes 35/40 years to become the pope, very few cardinals actually want to get the main job . It’s not like politicians or CEOs who would do anything to get promoted

"It can do but the organisation can still operate illegal or wrong practices without the actual involvement of the pope, as can happen in many organisations, religious or otherwise So he would be a front man, a meet and greet type, ignorant of any shenanigans? They would have to have morons in that post, are they that?" I'm sure they are a mix - it's the others that elect him. If the whole organisation was corrupt, except for him, he would surely know it. If pockets of corrupt people were in it, they may have sufficient liberty and skill to evade identification and punishment. In any organisation of thousands of people, it's reasonable to conclude that there are many corrupt people. Good managers don't micro-manage but ought to understand their organisation, as well as seek to improve it and cultivate a healthy system, of good for the world. The church, as have others, has blemishes within its history. Some is explicable due to their eras and other contextual influences and information. People who seek to lead may also be motivated by unwholesome reasons, such as access to money, power itself, people, sex and influence. It can also be a tool to become somewhat or fully above the law. I don't know much about many Popes, though some were perhaps not even strong believers in the truth of their religion. For many years the RC church operated with little competition and many people were believers or practitioners of it, due to fear. I'm not a fan of people who use coercion or frightening others to extract compliance, money or blind obedience, for their own gain. Earlier religions likely did incorporate some or all of these to help social control, which leaders gained direct and indirect benefits from. We can't determine an organization or persons morality free the past, though it may help us toevaluate it more wisely, if we don't overlook it
