If I’m using my WiFi in my house and the children all are logging on with their devices will it make it slower for me?

Yes although it will depend on who is doing what whether you would notice.

The bandwidth is shared amongst everyone connected so if they were doing something like watching Netflix you'd notice it more than if they were doing something like browsing a website.

Online games use hardly no bandwidth. Watching videos in high definition however does. So a few at a time unless you have virgin over 100mb will slow you down..

It shouldn't however stop you going onto any particular website although it will load slower, also it will obviously affect your ability to stream any videos as once your router hits the speed limit of your connection it will generally split it and it's not always equal. Although sometimes you can choose what gets priority depending on the router with the QOS settings.

If your not technically minded However it's probably best to ask someone who is to do that for you... Also not all routers have that setting. Xx

How new is your router? if so you can prioritise your traffic per device, some ISP do this its know as beam forming but any decent routers I.e cisco, netgear etc etc should do it too. You also need to take into account your signal strength this can play a factor. My home network consists of wired to tv's, pc's, nas, hue bridge, printer, consoles and wireless to phones and firesticks. Just don't experience any slowless I am running a 68 down and 20 up scenario.

other alternative is swap to a wired pc as that over rides the wifi systems

there is other factores involved weekends and evenings where net can be hammered by everyone and the system struggles to cope.

everyone is slowed down

you can also lower your bandwidth so it shares it better with everyone also slows down drop outs or lost packets of data

Only if you are using more than the sum total of your bandwidth really.

Csn always stick them.on the 2.4ghz channel and hog the 5ghz channel all to yourself.

Or prioritize your devices in the router settings so your always maxed our and they can fight fir the scraps

No beam forming is a directional thing, rather than being a point source it attempts to use constructive qnd destructive interferences to form stronger signals in the direction of devices.

On a home router id say its a gimmick. It's a feature mainly used for massive communications masts to over come the inverse square law in larger distances

Of course its a gimmick lol I would say 90% of users stick with the isp equipment. Not something perosnally tried but advertised, ultimately there are many factors to help distribute but going into overly complex factors can be a put off so I. E scanning the 2.4hz range so he's not clashing with his neighbour, dmz parts of his network etc

If you know how to login on your router you can allocate the bandwidth.

Qos - bandwidth settings

Set the speed for each device on the network.
