I love to read and need some suggestions for my next amazon order.

What have you read that really struck a chord? Something you couldn’t put down and thought about for days after you finished it?

Shadows of the wind by Carlos Ruin Zafron.

He’s a Spanish writer and an incredible story teller. It’s my most favourite book!

Val Mcdermid - Mermaid singing

It's the first book of the wire in the blood series on TV but don't go by that. That is terribly miscast and very poor. These books are excellent and dark.

If you like dark fantasy horror, I can't recommend Clive Barker's work enough. The man creates worlds and characters with a depth the likes of which few other writers manage, in my opinion. Imajica is a wild and beautiful ride. Coldheart Canyon is a great, original story too, and riddled with sex if that aids the appeal.

The Town by The Cross

Educated by Tara Westover.

It is NOT as the title suggests.

It is her biography tho.

I was given it for my birthday and thought YAK .....not me. I persevered.

The first two or three chapters I skim read but got the gist. The rest I read word for word.

It is an interesting read on so many levels. Although it's her biography it provides food for thought on so many levels.

You can’t go wrong with Dostoyevsky, if you don’t mind a long book he’s highly recommended.

An English translation of j.k. Huysmans Là Bas is a great and shorter read. I’m sure that it shall be of interest.

Oscar Wilde - the picture of Dorian Gray

Arabian nights

A newer book (both book and film were based upon là Bas) Arturo pérez-reverte - the club Dumas (it was made into the film ‘the ninth gate’

Of course, anything by Shakespeare is always good. The tempest or tragedy of Caesar, hamlet are always good.

Have read Crime and punishment, read a few other Russians years ago, enjoy Shakespeare when in the mood, love Oscar Wilde....will have a look at Arturo, not heard of him

My favourite is The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas - an amazing book.

"Rivers of London" by Ben Aaronovitch.

Police procedural, with magic.

Urban fantasy set in contemporary London, albeit with magic, and the difficulties of modern policing combined with dealing with the occult.

Brilliant series.

The dave grohl story by Jeff Apter. I loved dave before for his music and being multi talented. This just opens your eyes to all of the hard graft to make it/maintain yourself in the music industry
