Am I the only person to regularly think that what my life needs now is a hammock. Has everyone thought about getting a hammock at least once and what’s stopping you from getting one. I suspect it’s having two trees at the correct distance for the aforementioned hammock ?!

All this and more on a thread that’s sure to reach 175 comments.

Plant them now and in 30 years you could be kicking back in a hammock.

I have several camping hammocks as I love being out in nature but find the ground dwelling of tents uncomfortable.

Whilst 2 trees is the norm for hammocks there are a vast array of alternative hanging arrangements. My current favorite is a tensahedron stand which is small enough to pack into my scooters boot or top box but can mount a hammock and tarp with just a single tether point. I have had the hammock up on treeless beaches using the stand and a auger peg.

Spending the night in one can be exciting. I often use mine in woodlands and get some wonderfully close encounters with the local wildlife. I woke up one night around 3am to a strange snorting sound to find I was surrounded by deer with the closest virtually under the tarp. Of course as soon as I moved they disappeared.
