I don't know if they are still doing it but up until recently if the DVLA received 3 reports on a number plate that had altered spelling or spacing, they would remove the index and replace it with a Q plate. This cannot be removed from the vehicle and knocks £1000s of the value. The thing is you are not informed you have been reported until they take action. | |||

Not according to DVLA website, Q plate only for cars of unknown age or where the identity is in doubt! | |||
