Dairy sexual props ? Whipped cream or chocolate maybe ? Surely it would be the vegan alternative

Your a person the same as me, you happen to have different beliefs towards food than I do.

I have a friend who is a firm ‘hardcore’ vegan and does the cubes of truth etc, goes to farms etc and even though she is hardline she is still a person, she just happens to feel different about what goes in her mouth and what she wears.

I have no problem with the way anyone chooses to live their life, towards food or otherwise, if in their company I wouldn’t eat meat etc because I know this is an issue.

Cutting out huge chunks of food sources. We have developed as omnivores, our entire systems are set up for it. I eat very well, but include nutrients from animal and dairy products.

Also, having done a fair bit of research into it i came to the conclusion that unless you are entirely self sufficient being a vegan is always a compromise. Industrial farming techniques are harmful to local wildlife, it's tricky to find everyday products that don't have some animal product in them. And I would rather use everyday products with natural bases than wholly synthetic items which are worse for the planet.

This is in no way a dig, just my personal views on it.

The vegans that protest and are "extreme" do give a bad name to the rest of the vegan society. Inunderstamd and hate animal cruelty. I dont think even 10000 people stoping eating meat will mean less to slaughter. Just more waste when its noteating. Theres lots of varying conflicts to be fair

I'm veggie and have been since I was a kid but I'll happily cook meat for others.

What I don't get is how it is a badge of honour now. I've lost count of how many dating profiles on Hinge etc state that they are vegan. I don't get it.

"

I think that as there will be 7 billion people on the plannet within a few decades a prodominabtly plant based diet is essentia, so a lot can be learnt from vegans; they may save the human race.

Things that concern me about being a vegan:

A plant based diet does not contain vitimin B12; vegan food products can be bought that have been fortified with B12 but where does it come from? If it doesn't come from plants, it must surely come from animals therefore, vegans can't consume it. B12 is an essential vitamin so can't be left out of a diet.

Also, if vegans can't wear animal products, the substitution of materials such as wool and leather with plastic alternatives isn't good for the plannet either, especially considering the major issue of plastics destroying the natural world.

And finally, a lot of the super foods eaten by vegans are not grown in the UK; coming from countries far away, transporting them to this country creates a huge carbon footprint, these greenhouse gases have a direct effect on animals and the environment.

I think veganism is the way forward but there are a few important hurdles to get over first before this way of life can truely be kind to animals and the plannet

It's their choice.

Only time it bothers me, is when they try to force their opinions on me.

I had a social with a guy once, went really well.

We agreed to meet the following week.

He then told me as we saying our goodbyes, that he was vegan & could I refrain from eating any animal produce the day we were meeting, and not to wear any leather, etc.

We never met again.

Vegan bacteria cultures ."

I've just been checking this out on the internet, apparently it's really hard to make; one study suggested that it can be obtain by eating your own pop - not an option for the majority of us who don't entertain the 3 Ps.

Aparently discovering how it could be produce was considered as the 'Mount Everest' of biosynthetic problems. A team from the University of Kent achieved so I'm guessing that's how the supliment is made now... no need to eat your own poo.

"B12 supplements work

But where do they come from if they can't come from plants? Meat? Petro-chemical industry? "

Is b12 not manufactured by bacteria ?

I generally support veganism and save the planet

I dont generally support individuals their methods or actions , that would be case by case

It would be my opinion a healthy vegan diet is possible and sustainably beneficial

It would be my opinion not every vegan follows or advocates such a diet

Double deckers are not vegan

Just curious why vegans are bothered what people think of them, it’s only food. Only effects other people if they have to cook it for you. You’re not saving the planet, or maybe they think they are.

I have no issue with anyone till they stsrt trying to preach to me. I have a few vegan family members who send me propaganda all the time. I'm quite happy eating my steak and they should respect my wishes. .

Only time it doesn't sit well with me is when it's pushed onto someone who can't make the choice for themselves. Like young children and animals.

"Is the nuts, seeds ect that Vegans eat sustainable to the world food stocks longterm or will it mean grain and stuff poorer countries need will be scarcer and more will starve. Where will it all grow if we all go vegan? Its okay atm but if we all switch to vegan, it may not be X"

Saw a programme on TV that said it takes 500 times the amount of land to produce the same quantity of protein from beaf as that produced by soya; if the equation is similar across all plant based foods compared to their meet equivlant, then ceasing meat production would free up more than enough land (we may even have some left for wildlife). Also learnt from that programme that Bill Gates and Leonardo D'Caprio have formed a company to make vegan burgers that taste exactly (almost) like real beef burgers.

I'd pitch forcing a vegetarian diet on a child vs. forcing a mac shit Donald's sweets and sugar water diet

All parents are some stage force a diet and so they should asking a 6 year old if the want pizza or fish/ mixed veg is idiotic

It was reported the other day they even only 25g a day of red meat raises the risk of cancer by 20% .

I’ve yet to see a study that shows a vegetarian diet that raises the risk of cancer .

So ‘ forcing’ a vegetarian diet on kids is actually doing them a bloody big favour in my opinion too

I'm not convinced a vegan diet is any more healthy than occasional junk food. My sister has to take supplements and she is a grown adult. And children need the calcium in dairy

Hmmm

At what point in a humans evolution do you think it began relying on milk ?

Please show me another genetically very close primate that drinks it?

A well rounded vegan diet contains everything, just because many are ignorant and repeat myths as facts does not change the fact

Humans are omnivores

Actually this does NOT mean we need everything to survive its actually the contrary, omnivores evolved to survive on differing food sources depending upon the climate and location , when one food group was rare or non existent an omnivore can change its diet

A carnivore does not prefer meat it cannot survive without

A herbivore does not prefer vegetation it cannot use meat to survive

Omnivores can that's the point , we can also survive a damn long time without food

Why not everything in moderation rather than the extremes of spectrums?

I enjoy meats, some fish, lots of vegetables and a variety of other wholesome foods.

If you insist on using your choice to be a vegan or any other type of vegetarian or have your own views on what you think you may wish to consume then of course that is your prerogative but unfortunately some of the more bigoted enthusiasts insist on trying to thrust their choice on to others, which is most annoying. I have never tried to force a large ribeye steak on to anyone.... rather eat it myself.

No issue unless they start screaming at me about my shoes.

90% of the time I eat vegan now, occasionally I'll break out and have something decidedly non vegan. For me it's a climate fuelled change rather than just animal welfare.

yes we are biologically omnivores..and that includes a variety including fish..meat and dairy... and actually dairy has been used for infants in a long long time. You can look at many ancient cultures and see why goats etc were kept not just for meat.

I don't have an issue with them as such except when they try to push that it's the only way we should be. And then start sending me photos of animals in slaughter houses etc.

Do you live on a street where your daily shit runs down the street???

Cos once it did , in London on shell of a lot of shit ran , finally the government and public did something

It will take the amount of time our ever increasing population will take to cover our planet with "shite"

And that said if today I save one bee , or one child from diabetes that would be always better than the alternative

Know a Vegan, and it is a very interesting 'lifestyle' depends how full on they are, I know some refuse to buy any animal product so leather shoes sofas etc are out.

Also seen a vegan being given a cadbury chocolate Easter Egg... watching her receive it was interesting... It soon found a new home!
