I’m a plumber and a customer said that something was as wet as an otters pocket?

Would you expect an otter pocked to be dry or wet ?

Or as fit as a butchers dog would that be fat or fit as it had so much food

Or are the saying meaning somebody’s not sure ?

The butchers dog is fit as out is assumed to have food quality off cuts to eat

Many sayings have unseen origins

Having a chip on your shoulder comes from the shipbuilding industry ... when shipwrights built wooden ships
