It's a difficult one and without knowing what it is, what caused it, seeing it, feeling it, lifestyle and a medical history impossible to say

Usually the best advice is to keep moving

A physio would be better than an osteopath for ligament pain

Ah ... drumming up business

Having said that, OP ... after slipping and rupturing a L5/S1 disc, physio did far more for me than an osteopath ... both pre and post op

Yep been there too! It's absolutely miserable.

If you can, get a scan to confirm what it actually is. You're then in a better position to decide what needs to be done.

Others will probably say too that core exercises are very important.

If it’s really bad you need an MRI scan to establish the cause, it may be ruptured disc.

I had issue last year and got spinal injections that helped with pain

Also google back stretching exercises, they really do help

I suffer with Sciatica and if particularly bad then i go to a Chiropractor. Usually does the job after a few sessions.

Last time i had it they used acupuncture too.

Heat pads offer some comfort, but i generally have to use strong painkillers till it eases enough for me to walk upright.

Hope it eases soon OP x

Boots used to do (I think they still do) a home TENS machine. Excellent for short term relief when it gets particularly bad

TENS machines are also great to ease the pain

I love the suggestions to go and get a scan, if only it was that easy

I've had back pain and sciatica for 25 years now. I go for an MRI scan this afternoon for the first time. I must have seen around 50 different doctors, GP's and locums at 6 different surgeries over the years. The only investigations I've had previously has been an x-ray about 15 years ago.

It's taken 25 years of pain for me to finally get sent for a scan to see what's going on - I hope you fare better than me OP!
