St George Day

Have anyone noticed that there is less St George flags and adverts at each passing years recently? I was out today and passed 3 towns and never saw not one flag about.

Have United Kingdom patriotism lost its way and seem to be a sensitive topic amongst some people?

I even didn't know about it until this evening on some message on twitter, feel guilty that I missed it

Less "adverts" than when, exactly? All the other years when there's never been any "adverts" for St George's Day?

I blame Facebook, nobody thinks for themselves any more. They just repeat shite that they read on there without checking whether it comes with any credence.

I forget but yes we seem to not be patriotic anymore.

In Liverpool Paddy's day used to be so big,but even that is not what it was,I blame the EU a bit,also young people have no national pride.

All four nations of the UK should celebrate there national day why not?

Saints day celebrations are a catholic thing. Our established church hasn’t been RC since the Reformation in the 16th century, hence the official lack of interest.

Or even why?

I am proud to be from the UK,I believe on balance it is a good spirited country, but I do that every day, not on a day picked to mark a soldier who never came anywhere near this country.

I also feel the English flag has been misappropriated by some minorities I have no time for, and I would rather show the full union flag these days.

Got to disagree with you there. Paddy's day in Liverpool has been a three day affair for the last couple of years, mostly alcohol related but there has been a St Patrick's parade through the city also.
