It's just amazing how many people do not proof read prior to posting on here.

This is taken from a new profile just created.

Could have just ticked the wrong box.

Why not point out the mistake to the person, rather than creating a forum thread. Seems a bit fruitless.

I saw a new member last week whose name wanted to convey the fact that she's a Fun Gal. All I could see was fungal.

Sounds like a wrong box tick, as the poster above said. It sounds like the automatic generated text that fab does, when the user doesn't write anything in their profile text

He likely didn't write it. It's a routine generated text. He likely ticked the wrong box, that's why fab said 'men', instead of 'women'

No, they're not words he has typed himself probably, that reads like the automated generic text the site inserts based on what boxes you ticked if you don't choose words of your own

If you type no text, but tick boxes for who you want to meet, fan will gererate that generic text. I will 99.9% guarantee that he didn't write that.

Perfect thread for posting on something from the "backlog" to catch up and share more intel

Going to group this together with spelling/grammar mistakes. You will often see some users constantly having the need to correct others or point out their flaws in posts. Don't be alarmed or put off by that.

Some will try to catch you out to make you feel/look bad. How do you overcome that? Ignore and carry on posting or engage politely thanking them for bringing it up and it is noted

I know some of you are thinking it's alright for me because I am supposedly amongst the "articulate" ones... noooooo well maybe, but because this particular topic does not bother me I don't proof read before posting. When I have gone back to reply to posters I find my posts have errors! Sometimes I think I should do the whole proof reading thing

After all that is what the whole "preview message" button is for. Makes it easier to read and check for common/easy mistakes before posting.

For those that are worried about this please don't let that stop you from posting/engaging in the forums. We can all learn something from each other so if you won't post for yourself do it for the rest of us damn it!

I never proof read, always should. I read back my messages and think wtf if I cant figure it out then no one stands a chance. Do I really care if it annoys others though? Nope not one bit

I never proof read anything and just blurt stuff out, my grammar is appalling so I guess I'm guilty. So I'm fair cop for the grammar police.

If you have vision problems, and can't make out the keys on your keypad then of course a lot of errors will be made. I'm very articulate, but i can proofread something several times and miss things out.

I have no problems with typos, and obviously conditions such as dyslexia make spelling, and grannar more difficult but when people clearly don't know the difference between there, they're and their etc I do have to shake my head a bit. Text speak winds me up to. If I'm attempting to spell a whole word eith my sight impairment you'd think people with normal vision could try harder!

I'm sure I'm just a boring, snob who's up my own ass though!

I have noticed that auto-correct makes changes I struggle to spot, so the longer the post the more errors will creep in, making me look increasingly dumb.

If your gets auto corrected to you're and I meant "your", and slowed down to type "your" and it auto changed to "you're" as I press space, then it's just too tricky for me to spot

How do you spot errors as you type/ write? Isn't that how non-dyslexic people do it?

I think mine says men altho I am actually straight, but i have male friends on the scene an we message on here so if I switched that off then they would be able to message me so I just leave it .
