"Just got new running shoes save £30 getting for a local running shop rather than Amazon or a Branded sportswear shop. " Impressive. Most would have assumed they’d be cheaper the other way round. There’s hope for the high street yet.

"I got a new bank card last week and have filled up with petrol twice at the same garage - both payments have gone through at £1.00! Result! " Pay at the pump? Takes £1, the rest comes out, anything upto 5 days later. I got badly stung first time I used the new pumps at my local garage. Asumed money gone, went shopping, bought a few treats.. Went overdrawn by £10..£25 unauthorised overdraft fees Aaaargh

"I prefer the ‘get it for free and sell it on’ bargains. In the last 18 months I’ve sold some amps destined for the skip for around £2k, some ‘old cables’ (which I knew were specialist fibre optic) left behind after an event that my boss was about to bin, for just under £1k and have a couple of clocks I blagged that are worth upwards of £500 each. I do fairly well out of other people’s lack of knowledge and apathy " Saving resources too

Probably obtained the clocks by deception.....

Not everyone has your low standards Company has a policy on how long left items are held before disposal, boss was happy to not have to pay WEEE fees to get rid of them. MD gave me the clocks as a favour for sorting something out for him that wasn’t my job as he knows I’m a watch geek. Apology accepted

You changed your tune slightly, particularly re. clocks. Just for the record, I consider I have very high standards.

" I pity anybody who got you on jury service Can't see where i changed anything? mentioned my boss was just about to bin something and that i managed to blag the other items and suddenly its guilty without trial! (i'm suspecting you fell on your arse with the definition of blag didn'tcha?) verb (British informal) Manage to obtain (something) by using persuasion or guile.
