Spices out of the cupboard by about 5 years. Those things can't really go out of date, right?

Somewhere In The Ether…

I’m not sure on the exact date but I once took a bite out of a chocolate fudge cake that had been in my fridge for some time.

It tasted curiously sour and upon closer inspection, turning it around, I was somewhat surprised to observe that it had sprouted hair.....

Having formerly working in a cold store we used to get auction lots from bankrupt company’s and some of the stuff was over 10 years beyond its frozen best before date , but as long as there packaging wasn’t damaged the good were fine both the look and the taste , far to much food gets thrown away these day when there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it at all ,

Remember this every one , regarding fresh food ,

If it looks ok and smells Ok it will be ok

Canned food if seal is intact for getvaboit the best before date it will be fine , same with frozen except Ice cream , that can go into crystals and tastes like sand when eating ,but always check it first ,,even when ice cream shrinks away from the side of the tub it’s still ok.

Don’t waste good food every one xx

Thank God. Although my son sorted out that cupboard for me and was horrified at some of the dates. More so when I said 'they'll be ok'

I had a tin of soup that was a year out by accident. Nobody died.

My dad's story was of travelling through France in the early sixties and staying at a farm where as a treat for their guests they opened a huge tin of pears in syrup and a tin of cheese, both had been dropped by allied forces towards the end of the war and they'd been working their way through crates of the stuff since 1945.

Tasted fine apparently.

For nostalgia I once bought an old-school pack Ninja Turtles chewing gum/stickers in some hipster store in The States. Chewing gum was like chalk. Turned out it was an actual vintage packet from 1989 :P

I (mrs) once ate a fluff covered chocolate sweet I found on my sons bedroom floor, it had probably been there about a year...so we'll out of date.

I was on a diet at the time and the lure of the chocolate proved too hard to resist

That egg would have been the same if it had been in date. I work in a kitchen and we have had that occasionally. Our eggs at home are always old.

Pontypridd/Rhyfelin

Had one of those posh pots of Stilton that had a sell by of Nov 2017 hanging around in the fridge still sealed, last Xmas.

It was gorgeous and probably the strongest tasting Stilton I've ever had. Why do they put sell-by on cheese....generally it just gets tastier!

The kids wouldn't even try it -RESULT!!
