It is so sad on the 21st Anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement (or indeed any day or night) that an innocent bystander, Lyra McKee was murdered by the New IRA in Derry.

Can we remember her, and try to reduce the vile rhetoric that seems to exist in society today.

People’s life’s matter, more than politics.

Sad sad sad just when we enjoy peace the shit just flys again some people will justify the death of innocent people as a worthy cause

I was staying in the Stormont Hotel opposite Stormont itself on the night they signed the agreement. The staff were delighted, plenty of people buying drinks that night a real party atmosphere. Just like you Op I truly hope that same amount of optimism I witnessed that night remains, the sad death of this very talented journalist certainly adds a more pessimistic view currently.

RIP Lyra McKee, a real loss to the country and journalism.

Peace is more important than anything else, we need to remember this

Because most forumites are too self absorbed to think of anything other than who’s looking at them.

We used to have decent discussions on here. Now we specialise in the vapid.

I get your point, sadly we remember how awful it was during the ‘troubles’, clearly if you were in Northern Ireland it was worse, but it affected the rest of us as well. We need to protect the GFA and stop senseless killings - it is so sad

Sadly it doesn’t seem to be that obvious, peace is more fragile than we think...
