When I grow up...

Jump to newest

I say this to the kids at work all the time. ‘Aw when I grow up...’

They look at me as if I’m mad, because clearly at 22, being married and pregnant and have four dogs, a house etc, I’m a grown up.

But when I grow up, I think I’ll like wine, and coffee.

What do you want to do when you grow up?

When I grow up I'd like to be able to eat celery without gagging.

And know how to use satnav without cursing its weird and wonderful settings.

I watched The Little Mermaid at work today and told the kids that’s what I wanted to be when I grow up, they rolled their eyes at me

I always thought I'd like olives when I hit my 30s. I still don't and it kind of makes me sad.

A child at work called me childish because we had mushroom pizza and I peeled my mushrooms off. She ate them though I wish I liked olives, my friends do and they’re not even that classy

I fully support your decision to remove the mushrooms.

I had a mega strop the other morning! Refused to put my bra on, and told the dog I am not adulting today! Bra got flung at the wall, and I sat and sulked.

Whoever invented being a grown up needs setting on fire and pushing off a cliff!!

All I want is a Nanna! One who knits and one who cooks Sunday dinners and crumble.

Do you like coffee, tea, and wine?

My mum says I’ll like them all when I have a child that’s when I’ll be a grown up!

Yes I do. I drink decent coffee a lot and tea sometimes. I love wine but the more grown up I get (older lol) the better the wine has to be or it gives me terrible heart burn. I liked all these things before I had children though. The only permanent effect having children had on me was that half my knowledge fell out of my head as they emerged into the world

Oh yeah my brain is awful at the moment, I’m convinced baby brain is a real thing...I can’t speak and my memory is awful, just in general I’m hopeless 80% of the time!

And hmm. Hopefully one day I’ll like those things. I’ll feel like a real grown up then

I don't know if baby brain is a real thing or not but I reckon that considering your body is actually growing a new person inside your brain is probably concentrating elsewhere at the moment and rightly so.

I don't think you need to like hot beverages and wine to be grown up . I just think you need to have a little sophistication and worldliness with just a touch of the child like

I don’t think grown ups get to be happy. Happiness and adulting don’t seem very compatible.
