Picture the scene, your in a street market you walk up to a stall, the trader greets you with “hello sweetheart” or “hello darling” would you be offended?

Just seen an article from a lady who says its out of order women get spoke to like that, in this day and age

Is it just feminism gone mad? Or another example of the snowflake generation

I had a trainer at work that would call me babe all the time, he was a southerner so I let him off, just his word for 'love' I guess.

It is absolutely feminism gone mad! I'm all for equal rights/pay and getting rid of misogyny but come on

I love a good flirt and banter

Life is full of snowflakes

Got a mouth full of a lady the other day because I called her Love, should have started with hello "you genderless person that may not class as a person but may class themselves as a dustbin" instead of love

Ive had numerous managers tell me to change the way i talk to people

Hello mate for the men

Hello sweetheart for the ladies

I'm all for choice and people can do or be whatever they want, obv things excluded

It's the extreme vegan/genderless/feminist people that get offended by YOUR choices that rip my knitting

West Bromwich

Feminism gone mad. I (Mrs) hate the stuffy formality of being called Mrs XXX, even when I was 20 it made me feel really old! I like a friendly salutation which is how I see those words. Get over it girls!

It doesn't bother me at all. Everyone where I live calls everyone duck

When I was in the West Midlands it was chick bab etc

And when I was down south it was darling.

I think some people are just dicks

I think in this context it's fine....basically a friendly hello in a non threatening situation! However there are places that's its less appropriate...not sure in the work place it's right and certainly some guys can say it in such a way it comes across a bit creepy! To generalise though and say no one should ever use it to any woman is ridiculous... and its not something that would offend me at all!

I'm guilty of using babe and lovely from time to time...I'm sure according to some on here I am an embarrassment to the female species for such heinous crimes!!

PT x
