techys please help

hi i have a toshiba satalite lappy that is so slow it only 2 year old wanted to put it bak to wen we 1st bought it is there any way we can restore it to then weve already restored it to december 2011 thats the futhist it wil alow us any help would be much apreciated x

If you have the original restore cd/dvd you can restore to factory settings.

In the box you should have a couple of disks which will allow you to restore it to its factory settings. Try that

What antivirus programs do you have on it? If you have more than a couple that may slow it down.

I'm no techy expert though, so someone on here may be able to advise you better

hi all the pc did not come wiv any bak up disks at at all i wonderd bout this my self and googled it and it stated al satalite pc after 2007 didnt come wiv any x

Whats your memory , Vista alone runs off about 1gb

Try deleting temporary internet files first.

Google chrome is also a good browser.

Reboot router will help too.

5 mins now and again makes a big difference but sunday/monday nights are typically busier online too.

I have same lap top. Mine was bought 3 or 4 years ago and did come with restore disk. However when it started to really slow down, I put it into a PC repair shop, cost £27, but now like a new lap top again. Well worth it.

its runing on 1gb hunn and its not just the internet its every thing includeing opening piks out of files etc

you may find doing a disk check, clean up and a defrag will help with speed

oops also meant to add that a restore should be a last resort. Try deleting unwanted files, removing unused programs and oing what I suggested above 1st.

have done disk frag and cleaner done a maleware chek etc looks like 57pound to b spent thats the cheapest repair in boston area grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Also do a disk clean up and de frag it, I also run a free program called, Advance system care , it keeps 3 of mine running sharp

Take it to a PC shop if its out of warranty and get some more memory as Vista will take up the majority of it from what your saying.

Or run windows with XP if you can get a disk , that should free up the memory and it should all run faster

I had a similar issue with an Acer laptop a few years ago. It was slow with everything

Formatting is a last resort typically with viruses.

Another clean up is to click on document folder.

Type '%temp% in address bar where it says 'libraries'

press ctrl + A which selects all then hit delete to a few 100mb or gb of 'junk'

there will likely be 3 or 4 files in use which you just skip.

You can pay ... but it takes minutes on most pc's

If its just running slowly you may have a lot of applications running from start up; try pressing the Windows key (third button from the bottom left with the pic on it) and 'R' at the same time.

Type into the box, msconfig, press 'Enter'.

Go to the 4th Tab in the new box (should say 'Startup') and untick every single box, press 'Apply' and then 'OK'.

It's up to you whether you then Restart the computer then or later but theres no time like the present!

Once it has restarted, restart it again and you should notice it's a lot quicker.

You could also run Disk Cleanup.

I also use Advanced SystemCare - it's very good, and as mentioned here, it's free! It's made by a firm called IOBit..

If u do want to restore it will have a recovery partition on the hard drive. You start it off by either a program that was installed initially or by pressing F11 or similar on boot up.

Google the laptop model number + recovery for help.

Have you rebooted your router ?

I usually do it by typing eg. 192.198.1

into IE.

The router will have an ip address on the sticker similar to above then once logged in you can re-boot there.

There is a button on the router too but for a reason I don't know why it seems more affective as stated above.

google crap cleaner download and install does a good job

in the tools tab there is a startup tab if you run this you can turn off all the things that start when u run windows but if the pc becomes unstable you can turn them back on dont turn them all off read their titles just turn off a few at a time then re boot

also included is a good registry cleaner
