I am not sure. I would say by having many members practicing the religion and to have some kind of dominance with it in the world, you?

Shag. I asked on the last thread for you to define success in terms of a societies success.

Until a definition is agreed there can be no discussion on that topic.

Not a sensible one anyway.

You'll get all the fire and brimstone people trotting in and attacking posters for being non believers. Scary little things they are. Very angry.

Oh fuck me..... so a religion is successful according to it's number of followers and it's dominance over others....

That's not my mark of a successful society.

You said society.

Central

Religion is an alien abstract concept that's probably had thousands of forms in the world. It reflects human need for some certainty, a sense of belonging and often for a better future time, than current crap. As societies grew in size, leaders liked to control people and an all-seeing God helped leaders to have his people fear wrong doings, even when they were alone.

Religions often have rules that help to civilise people to support community harmony but these same rules can be applied and followed by atheists. There's no need for religion in order to have a healthy, successful society, as long as the key elements of inclusivity, shared prosperity and fair legal and government systems are in place.

I'm a atheist. And believe religion has been used for thousands of years to firstly try and explain what science could not back then and now its seems to be used to divide people.

It's a nice thought about our loved ones going to better places and such.

But on serious note imo its just simply not real.. (none of them)

That's just my take on the matter of religion.

I’m stating most Christians do not or have not read their bible. Only know the “good” bits and ignore the total insanity and immorality of their book. Other religions may read and know thier book more but still can’t argue its moral or factual either.

Scientology dismisses as lunacy by people who believe in talking serpents is biggest joke of all.

Religion should be a private matter. When it becomes mixed with politics that's an evil result, just look at the human rights abuses in places with fundamentalist religions.

Worship Jesus, Woden, Huitzilopochtli, Batman or Aphrodite as you wish, just keep it to yourself and don't try and evangelise others. Respect other peoples' choices.

Abuse in uk and yet that’s not considered fundamantalist. GM of boys still legal.
