I think humans should care less about what’s out there, and focus on our planet.

Sometimes it's because we think it's all dependent on us.

The more clearly we can focus our attention on the wonders and realities of the universe about us, the less taste we shall have for destruction

That’s my sensible bit for the day done x

The question implies that our care could have an effect on the universe itself. That is not possible. Even at a quarter the speed of light we wouldn't reach the nearest planet for twenty years. The vastness of the universe renders our emotions insignificant. However, are we alone? The only life to observe that black hole recently? Which if we were then that is very strange when you think about it?

A poster above mentioned not looking outwards but focusing on this planets problems and I agreed with him. Yours is a interesting way of looking at things too. How much do we notice cloud formations, birds and other animals,Greenery etc etc. Beauty and wonder is a great antidote to the negative.

The post was originally put out with humour behind it. Yet as people have contributed we see that we can affect our part of the universe. Though I like the way you brought out that our emotions cannot affect its vastness....but can our emissions?

I'm sure the universe is full of intelligent life. It's just been too intelligent to come here. - Arthur C Clarke

Thanks for letting me know...a lot of money spent on space that could be spent here. Maybe a lot of talented engineer/inventor types taken up with it that would be useful here.

Absolutely, those resources could be used to find sustainable and safe fuel sources,

replanting the ravaged rain forests, finding ways to reverse or limit the damage we are doing.

But our resources should be focussed on improving what we have, correcting our wrongs. Then looking outwardly to the wider universe. However look at the most powerful country in the world do they spend money on improving our planet, no they deny science but want to make a Space Force

Those who hold power and money dictates where science goes

This whole universe thing is full of holes. If we are so fucking amazing what aren’t all the little green aliens trying to get here. Don’t they know we provide free health care and welcome everyone with open arms no matter their creed, culture and sexual deviancy. Dam Brexit has a lot to answer for
