Sent message vanished

I sent a message to someone a while ago that wasn’t opened and the message seems to have vanished from my sent items any ideas?

You say a while ago - unread messages get auto-deleted after 4 weeks.

Alternately as NSA Chick said, if the user left the site that also causes an auto-delete

As others have said in the past regarding sent messages, I think that the best thing that anyone can do is to delete your sent messages (unless it's an ongoing chat) that way then you're not stewing or wondering about historic messages.

Anything that you send, after a couple of days, you can assume is a no thanks anyway. The site will inform you if you've already sent to someone without a reply so saving your old messages is rather pointless
