Sliding doors moment

For anyone who hasnt seen the film, the basic premise is that a woman runs for a train. The screen splits, on one half she makes the train, on the other the doors shut and the train leaves without her.

The film then follows the two directions her life takes as a result of getting/missing the train.

So, is there a moment in your life where you think if something (a decision or missed connection for example) was different your life would/could have taken a different direction?

Just to clarify, this doesnt need to be a regret, maybe it was something good.

When I gave up work and gave all my time to charitable voluntary work to help those in society who need a helping hand ( and no, I’m not taking the piss on this occasion)

My sliding doors moment...I ignored my fella's first message on here ( after meeting in a club). If I had also ignored the second message I may have missed out on the best 6 months of my life!

I won't go into detail but I can recall a phone call I made and wonder what would have happened if I hadn't...not all bad but not all good either...but it was one of those moments for sure.

Joining fab. My first meet was a mmf. My current fb was one of the males. We've been meeting ever since. 17 months. Experienced so much together. Not just on the Swingers side of things. We've had a blast.

There and to the left a bit

Isn't everyone's life just a series of sliding doors moments though? I know mine certainly has been.

Probably the single biggest one for me was deciding to leave the Navy whilst still in training (for all the wrong reasons, which were the right ones to the arrogant 17 year old me) if I'd not done that my life would have been immeasurably different.

Joining fabs.

I've had lots of fun, but it's killed my chances of having a relationship again.

Wiltshire and London

Being too good too often, that sums mine up as well.

There's one instance that comes to mind. I may well post about it on the stories thread.

I (austin) have three days in my life I see as turning points. Would I change them if I could go back? If any of them meant I would not have met Cammy then NO!

No, I’m where I am because of the conscious decisions I made, usually quite tough ones, not by chance. I almost missed a train today but had a plan B, Uber.

Yes. It wasn’t any particular decision but a series of events which made me change for the better and some of my friends around that time didn’t make the same choices I did and have ended up in jail, on drugs or dead.

Wherever I lay my hat

Yes. My best male friend when I was in my early 20s was an Aussie guy I met whilst he was in London. He returned to Oz. I started dating his cousin before I went out to Australia. Whilst there my friend told me he loved me. I picked the cousin. I have no regrets but I occasionally wonder what my life would have been like if I had got together with my friend and made a life for myself Down Under.

Where ever I lay my hat

Messing up my A levels, meant I reset, took a different path completely from what I was planning and it worked out for me.
