"I think this is the wrong site. Try the Racing Post."

Pretty sure I've seen threads on donkey Kong, kids being little horrors, my pee smells funny and Norwegian farm life....this fits well with all that.

And yeah, riding horses to death to exchange obscene amounts of money is pretty fucking cruel.

Pretty sure I didn't mention intent. I'm aware they don't intend that horses die racing but it still happens. Almost 2,000 in the last decade died or were destroyed due to horse racing in the UK.

Yeah but boxers and racing drivers compete by choice. Plus they are financially compensated.

What's misleading? 1888 horses since the 2007 Cheltenham races have been killed or shot directly due to injuries from races or training.

well 1st of all you said in the last decade an now youv just said since 2007? "

I said "almost 2000" and I said "last decade"

Almost means not quite but pretty fucking close.

The last decade would be Jan 2008 to Jan 2018

Average annual recorded deaths due to racing or training for races are approximately 30% more than accrued figures so I'm going to say I'm fairly sure I'm right.

With regards to greyhound racing, the dogs dont have someone whipping their ass to speed them up, and if they get injured they will be found a nice retirement home as a pet, not get a slug put between their eyes like a horse. As for horses not wanting to move if they dont want to, can you picture the start line without a jockey on board, lift the tape and do you honestly think theyd all bolt and have a race. As for figures, theres been 58 deaths due to racing/training this year alone and we are only 3 months in.

For the record, mildly flippant to make a point, just some ill informed posts dressed up as fact here

Yes ... the are aspects of the "industry" which could be improved .. but what industry couldn't do with improvement

Ask a question ... some of the clothes you have, some made in factories in developing countries where people are paid a pittance for the work they do .. to support western consumerism...

No buddy, that's the very lucky GHs.

Most are destroyed (the lucky ones humanely!) . Many are sent to the Far East for food.

I rescue GHs. It's disgusting people putting money above animals - especially ones like GHs.

I'm not sure about horses but GHs have been known to run themselves to death too (ran until they've been so exhausted they've collapsed)

I also agree with you OP but sadly the people that own them are the ones with the money.

They could at least reduce the hedge heights to limit the chance of falling.

For boxing etc, that's undertaken by people that are able to make a conscious decision.

As ive said in a previous post, if you left them horses at the start with no jockey they wouldnt move when the tape went up.. they are blinkered and whipped for a reason.. they are a prey to other animals, and the whip resembles them feeling they are being targeted from behind hence the fact they move faster, and they keep going when jockey is thrown due to being a pack animal and they follow out of fear
