As a kid in the 1970s there were a lot of old films like this on TV, while I probably didn’t appreciate it back then, some were fantastic.

Some Like It Hot because Tony Curtis was cool, funny and good looking. Obviously I watched this film before the good points of Marilyn Monroe occurred to me

Kind Hearts and Coronets led to a real love for the Ealing comedies

What about you? Do you watch any of them again or does it seem as dated as going to the theatre?

I grew up watching the old black and white films and still watch them, they will never be outdated for me. If I enjoy the acting and storyline, I don't care how old it is.

I have many favourites, some of these are - The Wicked Lady, All About Eve, Hobsons Choice, Goodbye Mr Chips, Emma, Whatever Happened To Baby Jane, Brief Encounter, To kill A Mockingbird.

One that sticks in my mind is - The Way To The Stars.

War drama, with romance & action (it’s got it all!) starring Sir John Mills...

There and to the left a bit

Bought up on a diet of black and white films everything from musicals to war films...a few classics to name:

Some Like It Hot

The Longest Day

The Dambusters

Norman Wisdom films

I'm All Right Jack

Ealing comedies

St Trinians films

And to mention a modern one - Schindlers List was all the more powerful for being in black and white

Hailsham

Although it's more modern ...

Young Frankenstein ... deliberately in b&w in homage to the old horror films

But for classics ... Casablanca will always be a favourite

Strange comment?"

What I mean is, I find him a dodgy at best human and wildly overrated filmmaker.
