Ability to listen, seek understanding, consider multiple perspectives, challenge assumptions and allow own assumptions to be challenge. Recognise that there is no absolute truth anyway. just a more accurate map of it.

I will put some point might help you,

1. Face reading (you can improve ability plenty of books in market)

2. Body language again as mention above.

3. Ability to frame question after analysing all permutations combination and dimension (law enforcement agency used this)

4. Most important background and good knowledge on subject

(Whom you are asking what and why)

A suspicious mind

Trust issues. I tend to think the worst of folk until they show me different, it’s a bit sad but that’s how i roll.

I especially like that bit where you mentioned about allowing ones own assumptions to be challenged.

I seem to have that ability. When I'm around people they tend to spill there guts out to me... tell me their life stories etc. Must be my persona?
