The Countdown presenter Rachel Riley died earlier today when numbers from a clock that was being repaired fell on her head.

The Countdown Presenter much loved by colleagues in the television community, and many others will be sadly missed.

Her parents who have asked for privacy at this time have said how ironic it is that with the quick response of the general public in the flood of letters they have received, Rachel in death was and is surrounded by the things that she loved.
