Dont tailgate!!

So if your behind some cycalists, tractor, otherwise cumbersome vehicle and your unwilling unable to overtake, why in gods name do you sit on thier arse meaning people who are capable can't leapfrog down?

Camberley occasionally doncaster

Can I also add people that think the outside lane is just a spare lane to sit at the same speed as those on inside lanes?

It's for overtaking.. learn lane discipline.

If I'm unable to overtake it's because in my view the road isn't clear enough to make that manoeuvre, and whilst I won't be tailgating the vehicle in front, I'll have a clearer view, to make that decision than the impatient person several cars behind that can't be delayed for that extra few minutes until the road IS clear for me to overtake and decides to make risky manoeuvres to "leap frog" to the front.

You'll have a much clearer view further back.

That's basic advanced driving 101

No, basic advanced driving is to leave enough room between you and the vehicle in front to see if there's enough room to overtake - ergo if I am the car behind the tractor, caravan, cyclist etc I am best placed to see if it's safe to pass it - not the car four back which has to see past three or four cars to even see if there's space between me and the tractor, caravan etc.

"Impatient drivers are not my concern at all"

So you tailgate because you just like the thrill of dangerous driving.

Brave stance

Who said anything about blocking? It's about driving safely, plain and simple.

I also don't have a 1.0 Fiesta but if I did I'd drive in exactly the same manner and according to the highway code, and if those behind me are too impatient to wait just those extra few minutes until either they can pass me and the tractor etc, or I'm able to pass it so they can have their turn, then it really isn't my issue.

Likewise if those same impatient people choose to put their own lives at risk by making a risky manoeuvre that's one thing, but putting others at risk because they can't be bothered to wait ties very much into the stupidity word you used there.

By all means leap frog - especially if you're on a bike (and for the record I often make space for them to do so being as they're much more capable of making that type of manoeuvre) - but do so safely and without putting others at risk - sadly in my experience the type of person that leapfrogs though is of the impatient can't wait and therefore makes foolhardy moves that puts others at risk type.

I have a mate who has an anti tailgate device on his car, it is a paintball gun aimed backwards.

It is amazing how quick people back off, after the first paintballs hit their windscreen.
