Have the carpet fitters round. Thought I'd done all I needed in prep but turns out they need to dismantle the bed. No problem, I said, and left them to it.

Then remembered that I'd hidden my bright red crop under the mattress last week when the decorator was in.

Having hysterics in the kitchen at the thought. One of them just came down and I said 'whatever you found under the mattress we're going to pretend that you didn't'.

I'm still giggling...

Anyone else been caught out?

Think they're more embarrassed than me. It'll be interesting to see where they leave it

Fairly similar - we had a new bed end of last year. I was clearing the room to put it together not realising the delivery men did it - manic rush to hide everything but forgot the whip propped up in the corner of the room

Well, I've been the one that's done the discovering of "stuff" on numerous occassions. It's happened so often that I'm never sure if the items are left there on purpose or not.

I just think if tradesmen are going to be working in a bedroom they're going to expect possibly even hope to find "stuff". We'd have to remove a bookcase full of books along with a lot of equipment if workmen had to go in our room, something would bound to be forgotten. I just think we're all adults and there's no need for embarrassment

At least it wasn't a dildo.

My stepdad had to confess to me that my mum had vibrators after she died as he couldn't go back into their bedroom afterwards. We had to hunt them down before the furniture removers come in to collect the bed

Quite literally too many times to remember. Most frequent are the toys only just under the bed, or right at the front inside cupboards.

I have had to go up in to lofts and there have been framed photo's from boudoir shoots stood up like they are on display for anyone that has to go up there. Possibly to see what my reaction would be or I suppose they really have forgotten they were stashed there. No way work gets compromised though.
