Correct me if I’m wrong but on here what does athletic mean? Because by the looks of things, some seriously aren’t athletic and have just put it as it looks good on the profile?

There is no set rules for the body type categories. They are vague as it is then open to interpretation.

I ignore what it says on the profile re age and body type as they are often very deceptive, particularly with age being put as younger to get round filters. I make my own judgements there.

I'd say it's some form of toned, not fat, not too wobbly. You can be thin and athletic or you can be a bodybuilder I guess....

Pics kinda tell the story, so there's no need to get too bogged down on body description unless you've got body envy or don't want others in your category....

My ideal lady would be curvy, but that could mean all manner of things to different people.

I could call myself Stephanie, but I'd still be the same sarcastic bastard.....

Tbh op - when many of us first join Fab we will note how many people (in our opinion) are giving themselves poetic license in their body type description! We may also wonder how some have managed to find time machines and become ten years younger overnight - or managed to stretch themselves and gain several inches in height!

Once you’ve been on here five years, however, you really couldn’t give a flying f*** any more, other to smile to yourself in vague amusement at how some people love to delude themselves!

I always ask for a recent face and torso pic if I’m contemplating meeting someone - and I make it clear on my profile that if they don’t look like their pictures - we ain’t doing rudies!

Simple really!

my own little sanctuary

it’s a grey area really, rugby is a prime example. They’re all athletic but some are brutes and others more toned and agile. I think generally though it means you have some form of definition but aren’t ‘ripped’ although it’s different for each person I’d imagine. Never really put much thought into it to be totally honest I just wing it.

To my mind athletic is the least open to interpretation of the body type options. Athletic is rather specific in how your body is and works; heart health, physical condition and what you use your body for.

Obviously it's open to abuse but generally it's obvious from pictures whether someone is or isn't.

I would say for the most part you're right. I wouldn't say that men or women who are pathetic need to have a six pack as such though. I would class athletic as someone who does some form of regular exercise and is in good physical health.

I don't do lying, so my age and height are correct, and my body type fits my current lifestyle as due to health problems exercise is very difficult for me.

Petite refers to stature not weight. Most people still think petite means skinny when in fact petite has nothing to do with weight. Petite is the term used in the fashion industry to describe a woman who is 5'3 tall or under. Petite women come in all shapes and sizes, whether they're a size 4 or 14.

Abs are not a requirement for athletic.

I've got 28" thighs a 49" chest and a 35" waist and no abs, I'm a powerlifter so don't need them but I'm still athletic.

In the context on this site I think it means someone who is toned and has a certain amount of muscle. I personally use slim to describe myself, as although I'm very fit for my age through running 60 miles a week, I've never looked to put muscle on. If I've toned up around the bum and legs it's come from running lots of hills, not really intentionally.

I guess that’s your interpretation like the other poster said.

Petite outside of the fashion industry means an attractive slim, short woman. It's like quaint, or cute."

So there are different meanings.

"It’s no different than when I see ladies say they are petite when clearly they have roles of fat.

My answer would be toned muscles and abs would be considered athletic. My picture is not but I am now 15kg lighter and have abs and toned

Petite is reference to height normally a women of 5ft 2 or under. She can be any dress size.

Its not, it means small and thin.

In the clothing world it means 5ft2 and under.

And when describing human beings it means small and thin.

Marketing bs aside

I guess that’s your interpretation like the other poster said. "

Its the literal definition of the word.

The fact womens clothes companies chose to market some clothes as petite not "short" doesnt change it.

Sometimes U.K

"Petite is reference to height normally a women of 5ft 2 or under. She can be any dress size.

I remember going to the petite aisle in Dorothy Perkins with a friend who's petite. The leg length was shorter but the sizes went up to a size 20

There are different meanings to petite but I always think of it in fashion terms and for the shorter than average height.

They make petite sizes in larger sizes too.

It's for people with short legs who don't fit into children's clothing . "

That is how I’ve always thought of ‘Petite’ also, clothes with shorter legs and arms.

"Correct me if I’m wrong but on here what does athletic mean? Because by the looks of things, some seriously aren’t athletic and have just put it as it looks good on the profile?"

Its the default setting when setting up a profile I think some are in so much of a rush they don't alter it to fat bastard.

The question is, does it really matter how some one else labels themselves?

Assuming you’ve looked at pictures and made your own mind up.
