"No, however not allowing ppl that are clearly heavily under the influence of alcohol shouldn’t be allowed to board. I know this is supposed to happen but doesn’t on occasions as we’ve all seen on YouTube. I’ve also been on a flight with a d*unk that was in the row in front. I was travelling in a family group and felt very vulnerable. This wasn’t helped as the flight attendants were reluctant to do anything in response to the barrage of complaints. It was a long flight and when he’d sobered up a bit they gave him more alcohol ffs. Breathalyse them before boarding, if they’re over the legal limit to drive refuse them simples " I wish this was possible as would make my flights much easier.

"Stories in the news of pissed up people getting into fights on planes. Should alcohol be banned in airports?" No. Why limit the enjoyment of millions of people because a fraction of a fraction of a percent have issues

"I (m) fly regularly, mainly in Europe, but sometimes to the USA. I have had issues with d*unks on board, one totally smashed Aussie guy (doesn’t take much they can’t drink) had to be restrained. How he actually managed to get onboard amazed me he could barely stand. Then he got served. (Actually this was on Emirates to Dubai) I’ve never understood why people have to drink so much to get on a plane. Hen and stag parties are awful or large family groups , the cabin crew have a terrible time with them. We are then called “posh” because we don’t want to scream and shout with them (very happy to be considered posh, it’s a good thing in our book) I would certainly restrict alcohol more both in the airport and on board. No one needs to drink at 7 am, that’s just gluttony. " I think they are looking at whether to restrict the hours like you have with pubs in uk. No bars open before 10am etc.

"After a few bad experiences on planes, my usual live and let live attitude is now lacking. 3-7 hours forced to sit next to someone who can be aggressive, loud and annoying (constant nudging, making inappropriate comments about fellow passengers etc...) is not fair and not what you pay for. Yes happened to me, luckily in my case just an hour flight, but what a terrible hour. No reason to booze at 7am to get your holiday started, wait till you get to your resort. For all those who don’t mind, I truly hope that it happens to you and soon, that you find yourself in the middle of a stag or hen party singing and shouting, trying to get you involved stinking of alcohol and being a pain. It maybe the minority doing this, but the majority have to suffer, when these minorities turn up on our flights. " Correct

" It maybe the minority doing this, but the majority have to suffer, when these minorities turn up on our flights. " Except the majority dont suffer it is a tiny fraction of flights affected. We have lots of road deaths ban all road vehicles for instance

"If I had an unpleasant or delayed flight due to posses up idiots I would expect the airline to compensate me. I also think it is reasonable that the airline go after the d*unken idiots to recoup their losses. The problem with this is the people responsible are seldom held to account. They complete their journey with no consequence. Arrest them on landing. And if that's not possible blacklist them from future flights including their return flights. Don't ban drinking for everyone just make sure their are consequences for the selfish arseholes who get pissed" D*unk people get the flight divert and arrested. They get very harshly punished. You cant however ban being obnoxious as sober people do that too. Should a fat person spilling onto your seat making your flight unpleasent be arrested on landing and sued by the airline? Shpuld somone with bad bo? Or somone who snores? Or farts constantly? Unpleasantness isnt a crime

Its called reductio ad absurdum basicaly taking an argument to jts extreme to make it seem absurd. However as the op started at the extreme of absurdity its actually a valid comparison. Same as car deaths people get d*unk and fight get d*unk and drive ban all alcohol but then people just make alcohol.

"Yes, or find a way to limit how much someone can actually buy. I don't care if it's a small minority affected, being on a plane with a loud d*unk isn't fun. No one should be allowed on a plane when they are clearly rat arsed. " They arent alowed on if theyre rat arsed. But what if they were loud and sober?

They just presented sober enpugh for no one to notice. Its like any bar in the uk isnt alowed to serve somone who is d*unk by law. So where do all the d*unks come from?

"Stories in the news of pissed up people getting into fights on planes. Should alcohol be banned in airports?" will never happen as airport bars are making a fortune out of it..many people are nervous flyers and a couple of beers are whats needed to settle the nerves..

Unfortunately they still get on flights ‘rat arsed’ because they behave at the gate. I’ve been on a flight where this happened it was awful. It was made worse by the increased flight time due to bad weather.

Fines and compensation for the other passengers and crew that have to put up with them.

"In practically every other scenario where you might encounter a d*unk you can move away sharpish from them. Obviously you can't do that on a plane so being in close proximity to a d*unk isn't simply 'unpleasant' but also potentially intimidating and dangerous. For that reason I'd personally have no issue at all with alcohol being banned both at airports and on flights but as someone previously noted, it is of course a money spinner and it's unlikely those bodies will give up their revenue so easily. Maybe consumption could be controlled instead by serving no more than a set number of units per person in airport bars where your boarding pass would be scanned to reflect this and when you'd reached the limit you wouldn't be served any more? Though how you'd then stop some people cracking open the duty free as well I don't know." That's a good idea. Not sure if they scan boarding paases at some outlets already. But yeah they'd probably just open the duty free bottles. Rattling through the sky in a metal tube with a hoard of aggressive d*unks isn't my idea of fun.

"Duty free delivered to your flight - you get it at the other end Airport bars not open before 11am No alcohol for flights under 2 hours Flights over 2 hours, 1 alcoholic drink with food service and then another 2 max per person Turn up at the airport pissed - you're back in the taxi, not on the plane"

I’m guessing every airline has different policies to this but it’s illegal to be d*unk on an aircraft. I could state the air navigation order but that would just bore you. It’s realky hard to detect sometimes at the boarding door as some get on quietly. If I saw someone that was obviously d*unk, then I would report to the captain and groundstaff and they generally decide to offload. We certainly don’t want extra problems onboard so anything remotely suspicious and it’s dealt with. It the ones who sneak on quietly and then become a problem later that spoil things. When you have 450 passengers on some flights, it’s hard to monitor consumption but we do talk to each other if people are asking for many drinks. I get called a jobsworth as I only give one alcoholic drink at a time as per company procedure but some others give more and that let’s me down.

I don’t blame the crew at all, they have my utmost respect, but the Emirates one was literally swaying from side to side.
