Ugly Duckling as a Child

Who else here ever had moments when you felt like like an "ugly duckling" when you were a kid?

I know I did sometimes at school and in my first year of college. It was depressing and just felt like I was gonna be a lonely and single forever due to my "ugly" looks. It got to a point where it got so bad that I nearly jumped off a bridge.

Luckily, I'm not like that anymore because as I've got older, I've had some good relationships in the past, made many great friends, been told from time to time that I look cute which to me is a lovely compliment and most of all, I've learnt to love myself and be happy with who I am

My wife was an unfortunate looking child...grew up as a sexy looking teenager...but as she wasn’t confident, settled for an ugly bugger like me!!!

I lucked out!

That's horrible. Secondary school was bad for me as I used to get picked on quite a lot and I was being called "Woodsider" on the count of my autism.

OP, it's great to hear that you are happy with who you and comfortable in your skin now.

I was told I was ugly and fat (when a size 8) by family. It meant I never trusted when people told me I was pretty and I didn't like to have my picture taken.

Fab, and meeting a lovely photographer here, helped me see myself in a different way. I now take pictures of myself and keep the ones others take of me. I look back at my childhood and teenage photos and see a pretty girl with a beautiful body.

I managed to find a photo of myself when I was in my teens and thought "Well, I sure don't look ugly at all in this photo".

Yep, I was called Bugs Bunny because of my big sticky out teeth and Dumbo because of my big sticky out ears. Fortunately by my teenage years and with early;onset puberty and the help of a brace my appearance became more proportional and less the object of ridicule it was during my primary school years.

Speaking of bullies, I remember bumping to a few of them from secondary school while I was in college and for some reason, they just gave me a friendly hello and two of them even offered to get me a drink when I saw two of them in a pub playing pool.

I always felt like I entered the Twilight Zone back then lol

I was nearly always the last to be picked for football team selection at school. Had a bad time for 4 years prior to secondary. The secondary I went to didn't get many of the same kids as the previous school, so it was a fresh start. I had to be nasty a few times to begin with but once it was realised I wasn't a push over things became bearable.

I stop seeing any uglyness of the human body when it begins to get turned on. I can't but help my eyes being drawn to pussy lips for sign's of arousal or the twitch of an eager cock or abandoned body movements.

Not me. I've never bullied anyone. I know what it feels like so I wouldn't do it. If I've had ago at someone either from fab or off fab , then that's because they've been rude / abusive towards me. I refuse to be any ones doormat.

After the abusive life I've lived, I think it's acceptable to stand up for yourself and refuse to be walked over and bullied.

Yes, i can empathise and I'm still the ugly duckling.

Issues with body image are very misunderstood. People with these issues are seen as very shallow but there comes a point when it becomes more than just little worries.

I get very upset about the way i look. In this day and age being an ugly duck really isn't fun.

I was called a gross, disgusting, ugly bitch on here the other day. Sadly bullying is very prevalent on fab. They people have a go at me for bringing up nasty people. You can't win on here!

Exact same happened to my ex. She changed schools in the end. As an adult she taught in a school and it was the adult staff's turn to be bullies. Some disliked her because she was tall, blonde (dyed) with big boobs and could banter with the other lads. Their favourite approach would be passive aggressive. In the end she was so miserable by it all she quit teaching.

With you there op! As a kid I had short hair in no particular style, a LOT of freckles and one ear that stuck out a lot (later corrected with surgery!)

People often seemed to find it necessary to tell me how unattractive I was - and in year 10 at high school one lovely classmate kindly told me she’d done a straw poll and I’d been voted ugliest girl in class!

I wasn’t exactly terrorised but made to feel the pain of being the smallest girl at school, the one who wasn’t curvy, no big arse, big tits here and no long legs. I never bothered wearing make up, felt there was no point making any effort, no one actually noticed. I was always just one of the lads really. I kinda liked it in a way.

I guess some things can’t ever change. It comes down to acceptance of you and who you are.

No matter how much I beg on that rack, my legs have still never grown. Cake? That piles up on my belly and my thighs, my arse and tits will always be what they are. But as a kid resilience isn’t easy, like yourself, it’s something you grow into.
