"Project Management - there are always projects to be completed - background allows for a multitude of industries - you get to write reports and stuff Failing that you could always drive the fastest milk cart in the West!!" I think there is more chance of someone putting me in charge of a milk cart than putting me in charge of any of their projects.

"What about getting into adult education? Use your writing skills to help others learn? " Funding for adult education has been reduced by 53% over the last few years. I love the sector, but it ain't in good shape right now.

"If you want to write you need to get a body of work together. Start a blog, commit to writing every day. Submit articles to local papers - they're desperate for content. I recently had a piece I wrote for work get picked up by the press and quoted extensively. Perhaps gig reviews or wherever your passions lie. Find a local charity and offer to copy edit some content. After you have a body of work to point people at, perhaps sign up to People Per Hour and see what comes of that. Perhaps also start to become famili with different style guides and practise writing in various voices. Oh, enjoy it! P xxx " thankyou

"Are you more into people...ie networking, chatting or "schmoozing' or do you prefer tk actually work on a project whatever that may be? I'm an Engineer (civil) but over the years my roles changed from the actual project side to more people management / stakeholders etc...which in a way is ok (but I do miss working on specific projects)...Now, I dont do anything remotely 'Engineeringy' (sorry couldnt think of the right word) and its all just talking to people from different parts of the spectrum. Perhaps instead of thinking of what you're good at or thinking of a specific role...think about what you want to do position wise? Maybe help others, or invent something ground breaking, or even work from home more...and then take it from there. Maybe do a bit of voluntary work? I think you have plenty of skills so maybe start by helping those with none and see what doors that opens up? Either way, good luck" Thanks.. I'd rather be helping people than working on engineering projects. Think I'm about done with this type of work.

"Crikey Genghis that’s a right old old mish-mash. Bit like me - ended up in adult eduction sort of helping people make their workplaces better. It’s served me well for 23 years. Rubi may have a point " It is.. but again I've no teaching quals to speak of. I've considered starting up my own advice line on adult related matters (which I know isn't what you and Rubi are on about). From dating to frotting etc. But only because I'm fascinated by sex and relationships and people keep saying I have to do something I'd enjoy. To be fair.. if I were writing, that's what I'd want to write about.

"What about getting into adult education? Use your writing skills to help others learn? When I've not teaching qualifications?" I know of at least one project that fast tracks ex-forces into teaching. But generally - and I have been going through this recently - it's a buyer's market and whatever new career you settle on you'll likely need the right quals or the right experience. This isn't to put you off, just that you are more than likely to need to show some quals in the field. There are plenty free or cheap online courses offered by, say, LinkedIn. Do some. It shows willing.

Responsibility I can handle, if I'm paid accordingly.

Some of the best financial advisors I’ve known are skint . Great with other people’s money but useless with their own . You obviously have a wealth of life and work skills . Yea.. but they're all pretty much minimum wage jobs right? Thanks, but I need more money, not less." I only know two legal and socially acceptable ways of making more money that's earning it or selling stuff for it. So you either need another job to run alongside the one you've got, a job that pays more or a shed load of things to flog. Many of the suggestions so far have been ones that need you to either retrain or rely on skills that you need to build a good reputation to build up a client base so you're not going to make more in the near future from any of them. What skill do you have that is worth the most in the current Labour market? Figure that out, sell it to the highest bidder and stick at it to fund yourself while you sort out what you really want to do and establish yourself in that field.

My skill set isn't going to be any the better. I've done care work, because I'm naturally like that anyway. I was good at it to, NHS and Care Related work doesn't really strike me as a positive working environment if I'm honest. I take on board other people's emotions quite fluidly, so there is only so much of other people's needless suffering i can handle before I start to suffer for it and blow out.

"Can I ask two questions before proposing ideas? 1. Do you work a job now where some initial volunteering within another industry/role as an opportunity to have a look, and build contacts, is feasible? I mean is there a morning, afternoon, evening or weekend day each week (for a timelimitwd period) that you might have free to be able to volunteer in this way, or is it not possible at all? To clarify, I didn’t mean move location residence wise or a job that moves location (although a good point!) - I mean, does the job have to be in centre of Worcester or do you have a car so it could be in a wider catchment area of Worcester itself? Forgive my London-centric knowledge here, but for example, could you commute to say, Cheltenham or Gloucester, or are you needing to be contained within Worcester? What’s your current catchment area?

"Can I ask two questions before proposing ideas? 1. Do you work a job now where some initial volunteering within another industry/role as an opportunity to have a look, and build contacts, is feasible? I mean is there a morning, afternoon, evening or weekend day each week (for a timelimitwd period) that you might have free to be able to volunteer in this way, or is it not possible at all? (Forget skills/experience - is it practically possible?) 2. Does your job have to be in Worcester? What’s your catchment area locationwise to find work within? Thanks. 1. I have alternate weekends to myself. So am free then. 2. I need to live where I am in order to be close to my children. Am happy to travel anywhere for, or with work, Provided I have a work/home balance. HGV driving wouldnt allow thd balance.. but i saw the whole country. Thanks. "Considering moving job again. Forget qualifications and experience for one minute and just go off what you've read before. What would I be good at? Because I'm fucked if I know. I seem to be capable of pretty much anything, but other people seem to fuck up any pleasure I take from working. Love writing, but don't know how to turn that into a job. Love helping others solve personal problems. No money to retrain independently. Not organised enough to be self employed. Help me out here.." parking warden .........you don't give a crap what anyone thinks of you or A crossing person you'll always stand out for the wrong reasons
