I'm not knocking anyone that goes to the gym before I get roasted . It's just never appealed to me . Boring as fuck if you ask me . I walk and bike everywhere so I'm not unfit.

Anyone else like me ??

Mwh same i like the idea of going bur im too fucking lazy. My new years resolution was to go to the gym at least once, not managed it yet

I walk on average about 10 miles a day - not currently a gym goes but I will be joining one soon now I have go ahead

I walk to the gym to use equipment that isn't practical for me to have at home.

I go the gym purely as a means to an end.....I agree that it’s boring but then I just listen to Spotify or Audible and kind of just lose myself to the music/story when I’m on the treadmill

If I had a gym buddy I'd go, I don't have the motivation to go on my own.

I walk about 50 miles a week with my job so not totally inactive.

I have tried doing the gym a number of times but just couldn't get into the swing of it (pardon the pun) or lost interest in it.

I walk much more now, have a rowing machine at home and weights and find doing those more engaging.

Probably didnt help whenever i did goto the gym i went on my own so felt self concious, didnt engage with anyone and didn't have any specific goals for what i wanted out of it other than "lose weight"

Walking is surprisingly good exercise . I walk 3 to 4 miles a day with Pooch . Bike 5 miles round trip daily for work . All good . The thought of paying a fee to be in agony and bored shitless dont appeal to me in the slightest

Yeah i mever get gyms for cardio but they make sense for weigjts as not many people have the space/flooring and equipment to be safely using heavy weights

How to make it work for you if you wanted might be a fruitful topic, but I don't want to be that person so I'll leave it here.

Weight is lost in the kitchen not the gym.

Realistically speaking no one is going to lose weight through excercise alone. Takes 5 mins to eat more than you can burn in 5 hours

Agreed and since recently finding I'm type 2 diabetic in november last year i have already cut my carb intake right down (no more pasta, bread, rice, potatoes, crisps, chocolate and other things) and having more veg, salads, protein from non processed meat and fish and increased fats to compensate for loss of carbs (low cal high fat diet as adviced by NHS Expert Diabetes course) and feeling better about myself and my waist size has already gone from 40 to 38 and lost a couple of kilos without extreme dieting

Used to visit a gym routinely, then I set up my own home gym, so I had the time to work out more once the travel time was taken out of the equation?

Then daughter came along and gym became another glorified playroom really....

However with my job most of the year I do about 25-26 miles or a marathon on foot most days and most of that is carrying 50-75kg components that you also have to lift, raise and lock into place, so I do get a pretty good workout anyway!

I used to go regularly, then I started with the stomach pains that aren’t getting better so I can’t go until I know the cause as I’m not deemed well enough to attend. Luckily enough I’ve been able to transfer my membership to my son. X

You find something you enjoy and stick with that. It doesn't have to be the gym.

You might enjoy walking, home workout DVD's, yoga, pilates, bodyweight exercises at home.

The hardest part is getting up off the sofa to actually do something.

Yep I hate gyms not been to one in 20yrs lol..

Keep fit by other means

I used to love going to the gym and am going to start again. It's very easy to get out of the habit tho

I got quite addicted to it before and it did make me so body conscious. I don't want to go that far again x
