Imagine how different life would be if the Internet was never invented.

Would it be a good thing it a bad thing?

I don't have to imagine I've lived more of my life without it than with it.

We'd have to revert back to using libraries, reading books and publications including magazines, brochures etc.

I know we would have done the housework today without the internet for sure!

Manchester (she/her)

Less easy access to knowledge or other perspectives. Good and bad.

Probably a less sedentary lifestyle.

I was a teenager when it started to become common, so I have a little idea.

"without the internet people would have to go back to communicating in the real world"

I sometimes wonder if they could. The internet may connect people, but it's also a good way to keep them apart...

It's a different way of communicating. Those with communication issues can do quite well out of it.

I communicate with many more people daily than I ever did before the net. I've family all over the world and I can communicate with them so much more easily and frequently via the net too.

Thee was a hell of a lot less depression back in the days before the internet . People got out a lot more , went for walks , met friends in town and because we got out more there was less obesity .

Kids met up with mates after school , played football , cricket , went on bike rides , or just went to the park to hang out .

The days before the internet were not so bad at all when I think about it . Or perhaps I’m just being nostalgic ?

I find it very handy for diagnosing myself with life threatening illnesses from two minor symptoms

If apps like this were around when I was younger, I would of probably been the biggest perv in the world lol.. But I'm much more chilled out now.

I didn't get into the Internet until later on in life and I didn't want a phone either... I remember thinking nah I can't be bothered with that nonsense. Now I feel as if I couldn't live without it.

I feel its a good thing and a bad thing.

How incredibly wonderful would that be too. (But also how slow and frustrating too)

Lots of shops have closed down because of online shopping.

High street Shopping is dying out.. In time there will be nothing on our streets, but barbers, takeaways and nail bars.

Sad but thats how it's going to be.

No, you aren't. I suppose we are of a generation which grew up in the pre-Technology days.

I mentioned recently with a colleague of my age about Black & White TV series in the 50's & 60's. Younger colleagues couldn't work out what that was, let alone television closed down late at night AND we only had 1 or 2 channels!

They asked what we did for entertainment? I said, "kids were conceived!!"

Yep , 2 channels , then a third . And I think we were the first in our street to get a colour tv in 1968 . I remember seeing tennis in colour and cricket .

We walked to school from the age of seven , and it was over a mile away , but we always felt safe . We would stop off in the way home at the park and often not be home till it was getting dark . Always on the go , and no chubby kids back then .

I recently went back to the street we lived in back then . All I noticed was that there were was cars in every drive , and outside every house , so many cars . When I was growing up there were very few , half the homes didn’t have one !

And no kids out playing , not one .

Probably all on their Xbox or PlayStation .....

London/Essex... ish... Romford to be exact

People used to go out on the pull. People used to have to graft or be inventive to get inspiration for their wanks. People used to sit round a tv and watch it together. People used to care about top of the pops and saved up to buy entire albums which were listened to in their entirety. People used to go to their high street to do their shopping which was a far less soulless experience. People used to pick up the phone to talk more often instead of just staring at the screen. People used to play computer games together either sat side by side or standing around an arcade machine, not connected remotely. Safe to say, i prefer the world without internet.

My great grandfather never rode in a motor vehicle or spoke on a telephone. My grandfather never saw colour television. My father has never used sat nav. There will be things I will never do that future generations will take for granted. It's life

I was taken aback the other day when a customer came in and said ‘that wasn’t on my map’ and I said ‘you use a map!

He said he had never and would never use a sat nav!! His trusty AA massive map!!
