Heya all, hope everybody is doing good today! Thought we could share songs which have special meaning to us, whether good times or bad, and those that either bring us to joy or to tears? Have noticed in a few threads about people posting about this so I thought 'why not' x

The Lost Boy - Greg Holden

Here Without You - 3 Doors Down

Fight Song - Marilyn Manson

Sound of silence Disturbed. Always reminds me of my best friend who passed away a year and a half back

Perfect Ed Sheeran. It was our first dance at our wedding last year

Little less conversation jlx. Always reminds me of my eldest son when he was a newborn, living in our little flat and the early mornings with him bopping away.

Danish x

Awwww my dear x thats the reason I wanted to do this thread. Not to bring people down but to highlight just how much music can speak to our souls and the moments that are captured in our memories. The Lost Boy reminds me of holding my baby boy for three minutes and 27 seconds whilst he died. The lyrics have meaning to me. It's so beautiful you have that memory and thank you for adding it to here x

Elvis Costello makes me think of my daughter being little and trying to get her to sleep.

My son on the other hand we had a cd of carmina burana, night on bear mountain, 1812 overture and other cannon exploding firework, drum pounding stuff we carried everywhere to get him to sleep.

So they’re special to me

(Song For My) Sugar Spun Sister - The Stone Roses.

In fact, their first album has a whole lifetime of meaning and memories attacted to it for me. It's like a time machine, I put it on and I'm right back in another place, in another time.

John Legend... All of Me. It is the only song where i am able to say'this was our song.' It was at a point where we both thought that our love for each other was never going to be unconsummated into real life love. Turns out we did but we crashed and burned.

Sorry to hear that dude. Been through this myself and I know it's never the greatest feeling, especially in those 'what if ..' moments. Here Without You by 3 Doors Down is my one of those. Hope things are on the up for you friend as you seem like a truly genuine person who wears heart on his sleeve

There's a line in The Style Council's "Ever Changing Moods" which goes something like:

"tears for the children who've never had the time, to commit the sins they pay for through another's evil mind"

Weller wrote it after he watched a tv programme about Vietnamese children fathered by US servicemen during the war. The piano version especially makes go a little melancholy, thinking about unlucky kids and some of the absolute shithouses they're bright up in.

I love that line. It hits home with me particularly today theres one in Lover Should Of Come Over that goes "you're the tear that hangs inside my soul forever". Love music.

London/Essex... ish... Romford to be exact

Sean Paul, Get Busy. No profound significance. Just gives me flashbacks to when I was painting my nan's flat and laying down laminate flooring whilst getting stoned. I swear that tune was played once an hour on radio 1 and 1 xtra at one point. That and 50 Cent's In Da Club. Meanwhile S Club 7, 5ive, Blink 182, Bloodhound Gang, Steps and Linkin Park gives me conflicted emotions of not giving a fuck about lectures at University but also utter dread due to knowing fuck all for the exams. That's what Mtv did to me.

My sympathies my friend. It's always hard to lose one close to us. Music is a good memorial to those memories. And it may sound all cliche but when you play the song, the person never fades away. Sympathies again. Peace and light.

Musical therapy can be amazing! Sometimes during grief one thing, be it a song, movie or book, can really be our emotional support as we attempt to bring ourselves to equilibrium its always good when music can be utilised in the right context for a positive response. My deepest sympathies for your loss.

Funnily enough I had this last night, listening to Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

Straight to You came on and I'm immediately remembering two old band mates singing it. Bitter-sweet as one of them is dead and I still miss him every day.

I remember you, Skid Row (Seb!!)- massive fan, loved the band, love the man!!

Into my arms, Nick Cave- actually cried the first time I saw this live.

Sweet Child of Mine, Guns n Roses- playing when I woke up after having my oldest, her cot next to me.

Every Rose has its Thorn, Poison- song playing at my aunts the last time I saw her, she died a couple of months later- she was on her way back from her wedding dress fitting. 18 years old and killed for the sake of someone thinking they could drink and drive

Slipping through my fingers, ABBA- my girls. My oldest as the autism took part of her from me, and my youngest as I waited so long for her and I’m watching her grow into a beautiful and independent lil girl.

Darkness, Disturbed- so melodic, it’s truly beautiful, self explanatory

Changes, Black Sabbath xx

"I remember you, Skid Row (Seb!!)- massive fan, loved the band, love the man!!

Oh excellent! Truly amazing songs on there! You have my sympathies for the hardships you have been through and I'm glad that music brings you slight comfort. It a powerful memory evoker and a lot of people find so much comfort from it. I was gutted that when the interview came up with Sebastian Bach they said I was too inexperienced at the time to handle it lol xx ty so much for opening yourself and sharing

Thank you. I would be so jealous if you had got to interview that amazing man! I would have been rubbish. Would have been too busy drooling, haha xx"

I was devastated! Missed out on Jack Black too because I was new lol xx still miss those days but made some great friends and contacts xx

"Soil - Halo! This is a joyous one for me. I interviewed them for an article and we sang this in the dressing room! And drank.....a lot.....of jaegerbombs before and after the gig quality guys! Happy days

I interviewed Ryan a couple of years ago- didn’t drink though, although I did discuss boylesque and footwear with him, haha x

Ryan and Adam are both softies! Loved the pair of them lol x I interviewed them when John Wisocki from Stained joined them on their tour and he was an awesome fella too x miss those days

Used to interview and photograph bands/people for my friend's magazine. Interviewed so many amazing people. Lucky enough to now count some as my friends, and will be getting back to it soon. It’s such a buzz!!

You’re very lucky to have met who you have xx

I do count myself very lucky xx such people as the guys from Soil, 3 Doors Down, Corey Taylor, Amy Lee, Lemmy, Christina Scabbiati to name a few (sorry for obvious name dropping) xx all wonderful people and truly worth a good fan base. The gig reviewing was such a rush and at the time I was dating the photographer so we made an awesome team x "

My bestie was the main photographer, and he helped me get the gigs etc. My fav was Venom Inc. They were his heroes (he passed away last year) and to interview them, with him beside me, was so amazing. He was so made up.

Now when I play their music I get to remember him, and it means so much more.

Music means so much. It touches us in so many ways, and as such, the people behind it do too xx

Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa x

They give me goosebumps!

Pantera and anything with Chris Cornell.

Walk by Pantera always makes me smile. My lil one, jumping on her trampoline, singing every word, guitar stances and moshing along. Proud mummy moment x

I'll definitely give it a listen my friend. It's the contrast of emotions when you listen when a song makes you feel like that. Dont know which way it's going to make you feel. Hopefully my friend you take scant solace in the fact that you made the choice that you needed at the time. Ty for sharing my friend and will definitely give it a go due to your recommendation

Child in Time - Deep Purple. The song that started my love affair with rock music

The Chain - Fleetwood Mac. Reminds me of long summers with my mates as a teenager

Rush - 2112. For imagining what a world without music might be like and saying ‘fuck off’ with a mind-blowing piece of artistry and creativity.
