But how important are rules? I broke one recently and I thought to myself, "wankers!" when I got punished, but then I thought some more and those rules are protecting us too....?

But who should get to decide the rules?

I'm a string believer in civil disobedience. To be serious for a minute, if Rosa Parks hadn't broken the rules, for how much longer would black people have to had continued giving up their bus seats to white folk
