A member of staff will show you round, explain all the equipment & machines, demonstrate how to use them. If you're not offered that, find another gym. Should have been squats this morning but I a swapped shifts with a colleague. I've not long been home, not eaten since 11am. I don't have the energy to go now Catch up tomorrow | |||

My gym has staff roaming around who'll show you what to do as well. Online guides aren't foolproof (proceed with caution), but also are sometimes better than nothing. I'm ill at the moment but hope to be back in the gym in a few days. I do cardio, balance work (injury related), an upper body and a lower body weight day. | |||

"Has any of you buff guys got a good routine you’d like to share ive been looking for a new one" I throw in overloads on a different body part once a week. Good for either barbell or machines. Example for chest: 50 reps with bar. (20kg) 40 reps @ 30kg 30 reps @ 40kg 20 reps @ 50kg 10 reps @ 60kg Then reverse it. I throw in 60 sec speed rope between each set. The weight isn't huge, but it works out at 300 reps. | |||

"Wish i could do squats properly Crap at lunges as well as can’t get myself back up Any suggestions as to what I’m doing wrong I’m female by the way" Maybe you just need to start slower. Work on getting your form right for your squats. Maybe you need your legs further apart and try adjusting your feet position. Slowly increase your squat depth over time with bodyweight only before adding weights such as a kettlebell or holding a dumbbell in front of you before gradually working your way up to using a bar. Same with lunges. I also found that working on my core helped improve my lunges. | |||
