"They bring us the food and drink we need, plus shoes, car parts, clothing, building materials, petrol, medicines etc etc. We would be living in the dark ages without them." Exactly what I was about to reply, lol, pretty much everything we buy and consume is delivered by them, so for that they are our essential heroes Most are above averagely skilled drivers too, and must often have the patience of a saint considering how other road users do dumb things around them.

" And all those hours, days and weeks on the roads. I couldn't do it." Yep. Driving is shit nowadays, driving a huge damn truck must be even more tiresome. The risk/responsibility must be super stressful too; crash your car and you might hurt yourself and cause a bit of collateral damage, crash a 40 ton truck and it'll probably end up bad enough to make the news

"they throw they rubbish an shit parcels out the windows onto roads near where they park up fir the night .. dirty bastards I know not all lorry drivers do this but where we live they do " To be fair, down our neck of the woods, it’s mainly the foreign drivers that do this. It’s also not helped by the cutbacks in council and highway spending. I think there should be a surcharge coming off the ferries and the money used to pay for cleaning up the verges.

In fact every motorist needs to do Smiths training. Makes you think!

"I drive in a manner to control you freaks as you got no idea what your doing. (car drivers) That comment proves my point. " Actually it doesn't. The reason being I follow the Smith system which is based on forward planning and being pro active in my drive and not reactive. I never get within 2 secs of the vehicle in front. If I find I'm closing up I will move over at the best opportunity, more than likely early so it gives cars behind the opportunity to use lane 3 (outside/fast lane) to overtake.(motorway scenario) So many times I see cars drive right up to the arse of lorries then realise they'd like to overtake... this is reactive driving.... with forward planning, 15 secs before the overtaking/lane change should take place therefore producing a much better flow of traffic. Most of the vehicles I drive are limited to 52mph so I mainly get overtaken. When this happens I always back off and let the other vehicle overtake and then revert back to a safe gap. It makes my day less stress free.

"And why do they insist on overtaking each other when one is only doing a fraction of a mile an hour faster than the other one" Yes this is frustrating for the lorry driver behind as no matter how big a gap you leave it always seems to close up and eventually you have to overtake, especially when it gets hilly and each lorry has differing weights. I normally back right off if I'm being overtaken and there's little difference in top end speed. Im not comfy being in close proximity as small things like a gust of wind or crap road surface could suddenly change the course of the vehicle resulting in catastrophe.

" Haha 100% rhis on car drivers zooming up the arse of a truck breaking hard then pulling out with no space at 50 into 70mph traffic and having to chug back up to speed forcing everyone else to slow down. Rather than jist moving over a hundred yards back or so

"As a cyclist I ain’t too keen on them but bus drivers are all knob’eads" I agree with you on the bus drivers, but I find that the majority of wagon drivers round this part of Lincolnshire give you plenty of room when they overtake me when im out cycling on the wolds.

"Seem pretty decent when im on the bike tbh let me out give me room etc and in return i always try to zoom out of thier way if i can. Especialy when they're huge rolling wind brakes going over the m62. Plus there's nothing that comes close to the thrill of a high speed pass between two lorries over taking each other. Very stupid and very rare you see a good ooertunity but goddamn " A friend did that, unfortunately for him, one of the lorries had a wobble, clipped him and sent him under the rear wheels of the other lorry. 2 years in hospital, lost a leg and had MRSA. He died about 5 years after the accident from complications caused by having his intestines mushed...

"As a cyclist I ain’t too keen on them but bus drivers are all knob’eads Cyclists shouldn't be on the road full stop!! " You take that back!! Generally respect for our drivers, seeing I'm qualified myself, and they're under so much stress, so I try to help when I can. This is why I give vans and delivery drivers special treatment as well. They're always trying to get somewhere so I let them out at junctions and give them much more leeway for 'bad behaviour' cos it's usually just honest mistakes from pressure imo. I learned one of life's mysteries in my training: The single boots you see on the motorway and wonder just how do those get there, seem to be from second drivers/assistant/drivers mates in the passenger seat and sticking their feet out the window 2 days ago I was crossing a big roundabout straight over when a lorry came steaming in from the left onto the roundabout and I had to swerve heavily while shouting OH SH********** and go round the bout again.

For every 100 times you see it there might only be one where its a good place and time to do it. No wind straight road, familiat road so you know cats eyes and any uneveness that can knock you off corse. And the key factor is the trucks and drivers. Uk plate teuks, loud rev before you proceed and see if they part and are on it for the laugh or if they close to say no.

Cyclists really should have bar end mirrors i think these days and legal certified lights. The amount of idiots who can't shoulder check without swerving across thier lane (if they even bother is insane. As is the amount of retards with eye level strobing suns that if you put them on q car would have it declared unfit for road use and an mot failure is insane

People "moving over when theyre ready" are a danger as theyve waited too long and arw now doing 20+mph less than the speed of traffic when they move

"20mph?? Getting carried away a little now haha.. I move lanes when the lane is clear, yet he moves when he is ready.. I made my point perfectly." Nope 20mph is give or take 2mph the exact difference between a truck and the speed limit. If you slowed to the truck speed your doing 50, you move out your moving into 70mph traffic. This is ignoring the fact that outside two lanes are often 80-90mph and sticking to purely legal limits
