What is the protocol for social/hotel meets? If things go well and it leads back to the hotel room...how do you ask them to leave in the nicest possible way when its time to sleep? Shake hands and say thanks for great/shit night???? Lol

Im normally being the one gotten rid off, just start making busy gestures I guess, get dressed, make rumblings about having to get food from the bar that will be shut soon. Hand them their clothes, start looking at your watch

Establish a leaving point before you get to that stage.

I think I am too open with people

When I used to meet regularly, if they looked like they were overstaying their welcome, I'd make them aware it was their time to leave

Subtlety isn't my strong suit

This. As there is nothing worse than snuggling up after sex, chatting away and then them asking when you’re leaving - kills any good sex buzz!

Hull

Slyly activitie the fire alarm then hold the door open shouting ‘save yourself’, wait for them to rush out of the door, chuck anything they left in the room out into the corridor and close and lock the door behind them not forgetting to hang the do not disturb sign on the handle first.

Works for me

I had a lady who came to stop with me from the south coast, allegedly for a couple of nights, she ended up staying for 5.

The sex was better than her company.

I usually ask how long he wants me to stay, but in your situation I would say thanks for the lovely time, now we need to sleep and you need to go. If you have no intention of having them stay all night you should say beforehand and if they are using public transport they can leave before the last bus or train.

Go to the bathroom dragging your clothes by your feet, get dressed, open the bedroom door and close simultaneously with the bathroom door....nobody will be the wiser...make sure you get all your stuff though, going back a bit embarrassing

If you’re going to arrange a hotel meet, surely you’re looking to spend the night or two isn’t it?

The only other time I’d meet someone in a hotel is if they were visiting or had some business in London. Even then, from the outset of our conversation you’d kind of set the tone if you’re/they’re staying over.

I do love a hotel meet.

That sounded awful didn't it?

I guess what I meant is that I wouldn't patronise meets with 'excuses' and gestures

I just don't think ending a meet needs to be awkward

That sounds rather clinical but actually a fair point. I'd say there are certain things you'd wanna discuss. Think this is when chatting and getting to know one another first is the advantage over the more spontaneous meets. Saying that, can always write it on your profile, saves time

my own little sanctuary

When I’m meeting someone in a hotel I just let them know what time trains are and which one I intend to get. Truthfully it’s normally a taxi but I find it’s good for them to be able to say “grab the later one” or whatever, just means there’s no awkwardness. At least in my experience anyway

It’s something that I’d discuss in the lead up to a meet, keeps things simple if everyone knows the plan.

In the past whenever I've had a hotel meet, sleeping over or 'where they had to be' was gently discussed or the idea floated so both knew where we stood. It saves on any awkwardness afterwards.

Tapping your watch, exhaling or whistling and rolling your eyes works for the particularly obstinate

Joking aside, I hope I never made anyone feel awkward / unwanted / used when a meet ended

OP, I think you can overthink things. 95% of meets will come to their own natural conclusion before any awkwardness is necessary.

If either of the parties is on a timescale, it should be mentioned / discussed in advance

Assuming both parties have unlimited time, mention in advance that the invite doesn't include overnight accomodation and that whilst ur happy to potentially share a bed with them for fun times, when it comes to sleepy time, you like your own space

If that dynamic changes during the meet, great, but if it doesn't, the boundaries have already been established.

I mention my plans beforehand. Hotel costs are shared so I can just leave when the meet comes to a natural end.

If we were joining a couple in their hotel or house, we never aassumed it would be a sleepover. We always made our own room or travel plans.
