"My last two have both been rescues Both with deep seated issues Both with beautiful souls I wouldn't be without my current boy I just wish he would trust He's a bit like me - he likes about 5 people. The rest can feck off " Dogs are very good at finding good people and sniffing, pardon the pun,out the bad ones.

"My bosses took on a rescue dog a while ago. He was very unpredictable. He bit them and when he went for a child they knew they had to return him. They were the fith people to try to rehome him." Surely it should have been put down at that point?

"Mum took on a yorkie about 7 years ago who had been beaten by its previous owner. She's still a little skittish around strangers and loud noises(the yorkie not me ma), but otherwise she's fantastic. " People who beat dogs make me so much more angry than people who beat people for some reason. Dogs just seem to instinctually trust humans so it seems a violation

I'm sorry pal but there's something ingrained in me that makes me want to defend those in trouble, an animal in particular who can't cry out in comon tongue, your beating that dog and I'm beating you

"My bosses took on a rescue dog a while ago. He was very unpredictable. He bit them and when he went for a child they knew they had to return him. They were the fith people to try to rehome him." That's unusual as the dogs home normally try to test the dogs likes and dislikes so for it to be re homed 5 times isn't good. It's future doesn't look promising if it went for a child Must have had a bad upbringing

"Who owns a rescue dog and how much love and pleasure do they bring you " Had pedigree and rescue. Would always choose rescue as been the case for last 20 years. They are the best and seem to last longer. Never judges me but always happy to see me.

"We paid a lot of money for our dog but somehow those who scavved theirs for free off some charity have become the new dog snobs. How? Oh and rescue dogs don't come for free" Me and an ex g/f had one from an RSPCA centre in Radcliffe on Trent back in the 80's, he was well mental and had been obviously mistreated by his previous owners, but he turned out to be a lovely dog. He was about 6 when we had him, and lived for another 8 years

"Weve had two over the years, both were great characters but both had issues. They were unreliable behaviourwise and one turned seriously bitey. When you take on a rescue dog you're taking on an unknown quantity." Yeah, as you say, any dog can be trained to be either nice or nasty, it depends on their owners and how they treat them. I have raised 3 generations of Border Collies since they were pups, the trick is to get the parent dog to each their offspring, pretty much as us humans do. Myy Border Collie used to sit and wait at the Traffic Lights next to his Mother until the road was clear (I used to live in a village and they were always off lead), education is key, but it's easier at an earlier age

"We’re contemplating adopting a rescue dog from Greece. We lost our gorgeous Lhasa a few months ago and now there’s a big gap in our lives. We weren’t going to get another dog, but we just miss the joy a dog brings. We really don’t want to buy another pedigree, and love the idea of giving a dog that’s had a bad start in life , a loving home." Following on from this post of ours, We did finally adopt a 5 month old pup, which had been found fending for itself in Crete. He’s now 11 months old and such a funny character, he’s totally loyal and loving. He’s also so handsome people ask all the time what breed he is, he’s a complete mutt of course.
