I go to the GUM clinic every 2-3 months and get checked, sooner if there is a need to obviously, as a lot of serious things can go under the radar.

There's no stigma in going the clinic these days as it shows you are being responsible and you can get good advice and free condoms when you go too. It's reasonably quick, painless (urine, blood sample and a throat swab covers most things) and the scaremongery of them shoving something the size of a lamp up your japseye simply aren't true. They will swab any discharge if you are concerned you have some but generally it will be a tiny swab of the discharge from the tip of your cock if necessary at all.

OP you really need to educate yourself on STIs and safer sex.

It baffles me that someone can reach your age and not know the risks and has never been to a gum clinic to be tested.

Do you realise you could have contracted something the first time you had sex and passed it on to every person you have been with since?

Instead of worrying about disease riddled fabber take some personal responsibility for your own sexual health and that of your partners - go and get bloody tested!

OP it's mostly been said above - the one thing that's not been mentioned is you do know some STIs can be transmitted even with using a condom?

As others have said the *only* person you can rely on for your sexual health is yourself and that's by being responsible and getting regularly tested - in a lot of areas you don't even have to go to a clinic these days, just go to https://sh24.org.uk/ where not only do they have all the information you could possibly need but you can (if in an area covered by it) order a free test kit that covers pretty much all the testing you need - they post you the kids, which are easy to use, you send them back and get a text message with the results a fee days later.

Never for a bi and I wouldn't use a dam either. I am tested regularly as I would be if not on fab.

It's unreal the amount that don't test

Even couples say we always use condoms so no need to yet do oral

Sadly that's true there are probably nearly as many who give lip service saying they get rested so others think they are safe but never get tested at all.

Yes you definitely can. I suggest googling “nhs sti oral” and going to the first link you find. Unless you want to give yourself a heart attack don’t look at lots of other sites which sensationalise - the NHS is best.

Also an STI clinic is well worth your time. Just tell them you swing - my wife and I did and they didn’t turn a hair. Ok, the nurse smirked when I told her about bisexual threesomes but hey.

Anyone having sex should know their status, we are lucky that there are free clinics readily available. The people that work there are unshockable and just want to help, it really is worth the 20 mins it takes to get checked for peace of mind and knowing your looking after yourself and potential partners.

you need to make it very clear you've got a hang up about std's, and that all sex will be covered/protected.

been with guys who when they turn up obviously freaked out about contracting something, which makes me feel like I'm some sort of disease ridden tart. a few I've stopped the meet.

we all need to be careful and responsible, and you need to be responsible and go to the clinic first.

There are many people in my age range and older who have no idea. There's a big rise in sexual health problems in the over 60s due to it.

my local clinic are brilliant even referred me to terence higgins trust for counselling i was pretty fucked up about my sexuality and just so nervous just being able to honestly chat to someone i got an education from all these agencies now they send me a txt every 3 months and i pop along simples x

If it worries you that much then you really ought to be thinking about a monogamous relationship, one that’s built over time and getting to know each other, letting the other person know that you have a fear of sti and you would prefer for both of you be checked out together at a clinic before engaging in a sexual relationship, try as much as you like to protect yourself by wearing condoms through penatrative sex there will always be a risk if you’re not wearing protection and who wears dental dam when you’re kissing ! Yes kissing can transmit sti the chances are very slim, the people most likely to catch an sti from kissing are those with low immune systems however there’s no guarantees, one of the biggest things is honesty from partners, I’ve been lucky in the past whereby previous fwb have been honest when they’ve potentially put me at risk thankfully I got the all clear and they had weeks of antibiotics, that level of trust and honesty isn’t always going to happen on here, it’s also one of the reasons I don’t just play randomly and like to know who my fwb are playing with

My sister is more active than I am and not on here or any other site. My friends are the same and I don’t think they get tested as much as I would.

I had no idea you could catch stis in the throat and eyes until I joined here. Previous to being on here I hadn't really thought much about sexually transmitted diseases as I was with the same man for 30 years

I would think it was possibly less. I know lots of people on here, including myself, that get checked regularly, aswell as using a condom. The only time I have ever known anyone, that isn't on here, to go get checked is if they have symptoms, so... Bet he would expect a blow job without protection tho, but he doesn't need to go to the clinic

I'm one but I was told at the GUM that the risks are extremely low. If people want to use condoms for oral I'm happy to but there is an element of risk in everything and to me if I'm getting blown with a jonnie on I may as well just have a posh wank and a penpal. Ffs
