That said I do think accusations of white knighting are sometimes thrown around a little too freely and sometimes by men who are doing a version of it themselves by putting another guy down in an attempt to curry favour. As for whether it gets anyone anywhere I guess it comes down to the individual person being "white knighted" and whether they see it as a deliberate thing or genuine support, which it often is.
