I’m looking at going on a girls weekend away. Fancy a city break to Europe.

Where have you visited that you really enjoyed?

Prague is an architectural delight with stunning sights round every corner, and small enough that you can walk everywhere, I recommend it. Cheap beer and dumplings too!

"I’m looking at going on a girls weekend away. Fancy a city break to Europe.

My friend died in Budapest when I was on holiday with him.

He got separated from our group.

He was hit by a car. (Was looking in wrong direction on the night we landed)

Because it was bank holiday the police stations were not open/actively ignoring us in 22 precincts.

I spent 3 night's wondering around homeless shelters and waste disposal looking for his body or asking for leads.

I found a homeless junkie who told me the truth.

That's a day before his mum and girlfriend/baby mum were told by the hungarian police ..

They were simply not working for bank holiday.

When I came back to England he was still missing on the 3rd day. I had to be interogated in Manchester airport and asked loads of questions and debreifed about the missing person situation.

He was just in a morgue the whole time but because it was bank holiday it took 4 days plus all his family C omeing out to search the city. Before they even decided to tell us about a body they had in storage.

They had cctv and everything...

GMP told us the Hungarian police were totally disintrested in cooperating with them. They even found it easier to deal with Spanish police.

They were totally shocked at how Hungarian authorities didn't work on bank holiday for missing person they had anyway while the parents are crying at 22 police stations begging to know info about their dead son.

Budapest is good but the police are rude unempothetic wankers.

I've had better experience with thai police/Spanish police... (who aren't the best but they still give a shit if someone's dead especially to crying parents)

So many places! I think a few criteria to help narrow down - what do you want? A scene? Food ? Culture? When? How long do you want to travel for?

Her will pitch for Oslo - fantastic scenery but not cheap. Same with Stockholm.

I love Italy, Rome, Florence and the Amalfi coast.

Paris is an oldie but a goodie. Brugges and Antwerp are low key but beautiful.

Toulouse - you could add a day trip to Cap (that'll be an eye opener for them ) and day to Andorra for major dutyfree shopping?

Ooooh - now we want to go somewhere!

Hmm

There and to the left a bit

Prague has a little of everything - history, architecture, fantastic food, excellent nightlife and more - has become a little commercialised due to its popularity but is still to be recommended.

Dublin is always a good option too - although is quite expensive and has suffered from similar commercialisation to Prague.

Berlin is on my to do list.

Culture I’d say, We love architecture and places to see like museums and galleries. Somewhere we will feel safe.

Not too long travelling, we will fly I expect as none of us will fancy driving.

I've visited Berlin around 15 times. That says it all really.

If you can extend the break a little longer, my favourite trip there, I flew into Berlin, had a couple of nights there then took the train to Prague

I had a couple more nights there and flew back from Prague

Also if doing Budapest, Vienna is achievable on a day trip by train

If you do somewhere like Porto, get out into the countryside and explore the smaller cities like Guimaraes, Braga or Coimbra

Oh and Montpellier in the South of France, stunning, stunning medieval stone architecture, the whole city is a pedestrian zone of classic 'disneyesque' narrow stone streets and cafes spilling out onto little gardens, it's a total delight.
