I’ve just received a message on kik from a man saying he has seen my ad on fabswingers, he’s not a member but was still able to browse the site. He wasn’t able to access specifics on my profile he tells me but could see my basic info, my privacy settings state it not be available to the public. This is the second time in a few months that this has happened.

I have asked admin for clarity but is that something that is in the terms and conditions that I have missed?

Best to not put too much personal information on here sites like this rarely have the best security and besides anyone can put up a profile in minutes and look at profiles at will.

Search engines: You can choose not to have your profile listed on search engines like google. If you opt out, your profile may take a couple of weeks to disappear from search: We have no control over this.

Allow my profile to be listed on search engines (no, hidden) list it

^ Those two settings in the 'Privacy' section on your profile, turn em off

You can tick the box to show your profile to non-registered users, and search engines. It has to be unticked to not show.

I just logged out and tried to look at your profile. I couldn't, it says its only accessible to registered members. Try it for yourself to put your mind at rest.

Log out and check for yourself. I did that and can't see your profile.

Forum posts are visible but the first letter of your profile name is replaced and your photos are blurred.

Top tip, don't use the same username for here and kik. I know it makes you look all professional and famous, but....

Oh and if you use WhatsApp with ppl from here then you'll soon pop up in their suggested friends on messenger and they'll know your full name and be able to find you on fb too....

How long ago did you do that? It can take many weeks for you to be deleted from search results, not too sure on the technical details but depending on how often sites like google update the website links on their end.

Log out and check for yourself. I did that and can't see your profile.

I'd wonder then if he is actually here and just not willing to admit it. Might be worth messaging the admins to see if there's a bug or something, data breaches can get pretty costly if they involve Special Category Data

Yeah I thought that the first time it happened but this guy said he couldn’t see my pics, although maybe he was telling porkies. Never know I suppose. Not gonna admit to a gdpr breach.

I would assume that by making a profile on a website regardless of which one, that means that whatever you choose to put on there is public property. I'm amazed that there are so many naive people that are surprised by this

There is no reason for anyone to think this site shares data if they have the ability for the site to do it is turned off in your Privacy settings. On and off i have been a member of this site for more years than i can remember. Not once has my profile name showed up in any internet search.

If yours does, it's because you havn't set your Privacy settings properly.

I’ve got a different number on FB (never updated it from my old one after a stalker) checked to make sure, haha, but people I’m talking to via WhatsApp from here, are still coming up on my suggested friends on FB

Ah! Thanks for explaining, it doesn’t bother me, as I only give my WhatsApp if interested anyway. Just a bit surprised that the past week loads of fab people have been coming up on my fb Page, haha x

I think whatever you post or put online is there for whoever or whenever anyone wants to access it .

Even if you send a private pic to a friend or someone else they can screenshot it and distribute it at there leisure be carful what you post online it’s available to all

Your privacy settings must be set how you want it as I couldn't see your profile when I logged out so the person must be a member of the site

Google your profile name, either it is a popular name in Fife, or you are on multiple sites, all available to the public through google

Try searching for yourself if your settings don't permit it and you won't find your profile. Do a few tests to confirm it.

Relying on what a random unknown person says on kik isn't reliable. How would someone find info of the thousands of site users, when not logged in!

as others may have said it's possible to change settings ,go onto account select privacy settings then choose who you want to access your account
