Don't actually get the point.. a picture on your skin doesn't make you anything other than a person with just that..

I think tattoos are the norm these days rather than just when I was growing up , then they only used to be Punks, Skin Heads and Hard guys that had tattoos

. Now nearly every one has then including women , I haven’t any but I think they look good unless there those horrible home made ones with a needle dipped in the ink loads of times

Agree, it something I always wanted to get and I think it’s much of an art form these days. There some really talented people doing it these days, the guy I go to studied and trained in classic oil paintings.

I admire the people who have tattoos... they have suffered pain to be a walking work of art...I haven't any myself..too much of a wuss ..and a tightarse to spend the time and money on myself in this way.... also.. won't they look tired and anachronistic as I say and go all wrinkly in my old age...hang on ..I'm 62 already ...go on ... persuade me somebody... will I be more alluring to the opposite sex with my tatt..and where should I get it done on

Don't know what it means but tattoos are pretty much mainstream today and have been for sometime imo.

I think David Beckham was the catalyst for masses accepting tattoos as a mainstream trend. People will get likes/dislikes/judged. You should only get tattoos if YOU like them not to convey some kind of image but I accept that many people do. I don't think they are seen as a badge of honour for being hardcore nowadays. Maybe except people who get massive pieces which cover all of your painful areas.

I'm baggy already. My tattoo guy has to get angry wild horses pulling my skin taut or else it's like tattooing a melted marshmallow.

Painful areas how? Like the tatts that hurt so bad you want to rip that body part off while he's jabbing the needle into it?

I've heard of tattoo artists talk and say they've tattooed friends and family who have required assistance to alleviate the pain...a bottle of whisky for example or some class A's. Spine, skull, eyelids, feet etc.

Love my tattoos but never thought of it as making anybody 'hardcore'. Most of mine are due to my belief system and others where symbolic of periods of my life. I love tattoos on people, it make me feel like it's an insight into the person. Plus love beautiful artwork. Not too worried about when I get older. My opinions on my tats are not going to change, beliefs stay the same and the periods of my life I got them for never changes. All in all, tats are for me but I don't see them as 'hardcore'.....painful as fuck in some places....but not 'hardcore'

I could have done with some whisky for my last tatt. It was 3 hours of unbearable pain. The one next to it was fine though. Really weird.

my last one started late and finished late with a lot of faffing in the middle meaning i was sat there for 6 hours instead of 4. I had low blood sugar and was feeling cold and twitchy for half the session. Wasn't painful but most uncomfortable. Am gonna take a chocolate bar with me next time.

I love mine. I have 23. They range from very personal to me, my parents writing (they both died a few years ago) to a momento from each country I have visited to indulgent ones that I just wanted.

Any dickhead can walk in a tattoo shop and get a shite tatt they will regret. The 1 in my avatar is my only 1 and for these who know me know it's meaning. Does that make me hard core do me a favour and yourself look a little deeper

I have 8 stars (each one in the 2 favourite colours of the family member they represent)and a heartagram down my arm, a teenage mutant ninja turtle on my shoulder blade and the Ode of Remembrance on my ribs. Every single one hurt like hell. I'm not "hardcore" (whatever that means) at all, I just like the look of tattoos and I aim to have a full sleeve by the time I'm finished. What will my body look like when I'm older? Wrinkly and saggy like the rest of you, just with a few more blobs of indistinguishable colour thrown in.
