How far away does something have to be for you to think I'll drive... Do you drive to your local shop when it's only at the end of the road?

Was it Just Good Friends (80's sitcom with Paul Nicholas and Jan Francis) where he would literally drive from one side of the road to the other to go to the local shop?

world war 2 we had to grow our own food in allotments..we were slimmer &healthier...now of course only sex is still rationed
