"It’s in the interests of the large pharmaceutical companies to not cure cancer , I’m probably jaded but that’s what I believe . " Exactly this. There will never be cures for cancer. There may be ways that we'll be able to 'live with it'. Much the same as HIV, there's never going to be a cure, the money is in the medicine to help you live with it. People wth HIV have a much longer prognosis for life expectancy thanks to a cocktail of drugs. Cancer will follow suit in the next 25 years.

Mutations occur for various reasons, certain things increase the opportunity for mutations to happen, smoking, burnt food, radiation, etc etc, the list is endless. I’m sure we all know a story of someone who smoked 40 a day and lived to be 100 and in the same breath someone that lived a clean life and passed to young. Luck of the drawer really.

"We all have cancer cells in our body ,anything can trigger it but smoking is the main trigger .. And alcohol.. Which is another form of sugar" The liver does not metabolize alcohol into sugar. On the contrary, most people will experience a dip in their blood sugar (glucose) levels when consuming alcohol. Alcohol is eventually broken down by the liver into acetate, and finally into carbon dioxide and water---not sugar.

I’ve heard cannabis is the best cure Mrscxxx My mum had throat cancer ffs" So have I got it too, Problem here is too many people listening or reading hypothetical theories of what is causing cancer, what is good to prevent cancer or treat cancer.. Truth is they still don’t know, my cancer is diagnosed in 4 people on average every week in the U.K. 3 of these are normally men, there seems to be some link to HPV but no guarantee that this causes it, stress, smoking and alcohol also are linked to throat cancer! I don’t smoke and drink little ... Regarding HPV this can be transmitted by touch skin on skin and is not sexually transmitted, 70% of adults in the U.K. will get this virus at some point. Op mentions sugar, there is natural sugar in lots of things we eat such as fruit Since being diagnosed no one person has told me to avoid sugar! So I can’t see this being true asthings stand However, many theories (again internet bound) Are around suggesting this.. So in response to the original question There are theories to links, but no evidence suggests this is true, look up swallows U.K. they are a head and neck cancer support group, they would verify my points!!

"FabS is well known for it's large numbers of Oncologists and experts on this extremely complex topic. You don't think people have day jobs then? ![]() Have to say you've lost me there. The original post was about sugar being linked to cancer. I made the, 'tongue in cheek', point that there is unlikely to be any significant number of people here qualified to have the required knowledge to comment in a meaningful way. There are currently around 376 Consultant oncologists and 280 Registrars in England; lets be generous and call it 1000 in total in the UK Lets add another 1000 academics, researchers etc who may have sufficient in depth knowledge on this. The UK has a population around 67M and about 20% are Children. So lets say there are 50M adults Assuming the distrubution here is similar to the general population; if 25000 people regulary use the forums (unlikely) according to my calculations there would be roughly 1 person qualified to give an authorative answer. Even if my calculations are way out. You should be getting my drift by now

"The answer is that nobody could give you an answer because there is no proven answer that anything Gives you cancer. " Exactly. Having cells causes cancer, end of. We know what is likely to be carcinogenic though. Asbestos is almost always found in Mesothelioma for example. Risks, on the other hand, means that there's no proof whatsoever but all the people with these cancers tend to have the same habits or have come into the same pollutants asothers with the same cancer.
