Keep biting my tounge :(

I keep biting my tounge to the point of it becoming an annoyance and a health issue.

I had a guard made to fit over my lower teeth in the night, which sort of works but obviously this isn't practical in the daytime.

Anyone else do this? If so what did you do to solve the issue?

My dentist said I can have my teeth ground off a bit. I don't like the sound of that at all.

Daytime as well. Not always when I eat. Has been happening when I least expect.
