"was blade runner the best sci fi film ever ? What was ?"

Can't say I have watched it through in one sitting. It's up there but unsure if it's the best.

So many to choose from

Metropolis in the early days of cinema ... through to Alita: Battle Angel ... one person's hit is another's flop

"No, Alien is "

Both good films, holding their own in a cgi universe.

Blade runner, oddest oversight is no mobile phones

Best Sci-Fi has to be 2001. Blade runner is superb though I have to admit and its sequel is not to shabby either.

Best Sci-Fi of recent times has to be Arrival.

Was going to say Metropolis but thought that might be a bit too geeky and nobody would know what it was.

That's definitely up in the top 10 of all time.

There's a series of books by an author called Ian M Banks. He writes about a future pan galactic human civilization that have implanted devices into their brains. Hands free mobile.. Plus much much more. I imagine the people in Blade runner have similair tech.

I like it, I don't think it's the epic it's made out to be. Opening scene of LA still stands test of time. Very imposing, dark vision of the future.

I'll get slated for this... Dune.

Four movies that were each a game changer to the science fiction genre, in their time:

Metropolis

Forbidden Planet

2001

Blade Runner

Denis Villeneuve is on track to direct the next Dune movie. That could be awesome.

Based on numbers surely it has to be any of the Star Wars films?

Sting was hilarious in Dune, although obviously that wasn't the intention

The film didn't do the book justice at all.

For me, it's either 2001: A Space Odyssey or A Clockwork Orange.

Strangely, both Kubrick films.

Rogue One set in the SW universe gives Empire a good run for its money. Not part of the Star Wars trilogies per se but set immediately before A New Hope. Give it a watch if you've never seen it.
