When a message says (Deleted) it means the recipient never opened it in the first place right? Because i have messages that show as (read) even though it was months ago which I'm sure they've deleted by now.

No ... deleted means deleted, whether it was read or not ...

Some people just don't clear out their in boxes very often .. or at all

Sometimes and sometimes they did. Either way it's a redundant question they're not interested just keep looking and good luck.

I swear I've never seen read messages turn to deleted, even some messages still show as unread and yellow after weeks.. I'm sure they have been deleted by now lol

If they're unread and yellow after weeks and don't have the "deleted" line through them, it means they've not been read - after about four weeks like that they just disappear

I re-joined a week ago and I’m still trying to get through the backlog. It’s impossible to get through then as I answer a few then I get even more back. I think I’m going to give up answering, too time consuming.

Yeah I suppose! Never thought of it like that

I'm sure some of you ladies get mad inboxes every minute! It is annoying on the other hand though haha

Don't be a slave to your sent box.

If you were sending a letter by Royal Mail, you won't know if it has been read or eaten by the dog. Treat your messages the same way.

You are absolutely right it's just something I've kinda noticed.. Not sure if it's like a legit glitch or not

"You are absolutely right it's just something I've kinda noticed.. Not sure if it's like a legit glitch or not"

I think you're way over thinking it to be honest but for the avoidance of doubt the various states of sent messages are:

Highlighted yellow - Unread or read and marked unread

Highlighted yellow with a line through it - Deleted unread

No highlight - Read

No highlight with a line through it - Read and deleted

Message no longer in your sent box - either user has gone UNLOS or the message was left unread for four weeks and the system removed it.

No highlight and message still in your sent box months or years later - message was read but has never been deleted.

Maybe I am overthinking it it's just a weird thing.. I've never seen a yellow message show as deleted ? Is that a thing ?

Send me a message and I'll prove it's a thing - I often delete messages without reading them if I can see from the first line that it's not going to appeal and know I'm not alone

Deleted and still yellow means deleted unread. Just deleted is that alone. Could be they're just clearing out their inbox if they've replied.

I've see a few single guys on here say they delete all their sent messages so they're not left looking at them to see if they're read or not. Any reply is a good thing and no stressing over the ones who haven't. Seems like a good idea to me.

V x

It's white and deleted, so you didn't open the message just deleted straight away ?

Yeah but this is what I mean, if it's yellow aka unread but they deleted shouldn't it say deleted on your end!?

Nope just straight deleted - interesting - maybe they changed it to stop the bleating about messages being deleted unread - either way it doesn't change a thing in the greater scheme of things

So to test it I'll re send a message, except this time open it, give it a few mins then delete it and let me know
